Chengdu, August 7th - Since July 29th, the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region has been hit by continuous heavy rainfall due to the impact of Typhoon Du Suri. The flood control and disaster relief situation in Fangshan District, Mentougou District, and Zhuozhou City in Hebei Province has been severe. The Sichuan civilian rescue force, the Blue Leopard Rescue Team, raced against the typhoon and rushed all the way from Xiamen to Beijing, Hebei and other places for rescue. A rescue force of 10 people, safely transferring hundreds of people, has become one of the important forces in civilian rescue. A reporter from CCTV connected with the Secretary General of the rescue team, Yang Chuanjiang, to restore the rescue process.

Race Against Time
Rescue workers heading north sometimes rest less than 2 hours a day
On July 26th, experts analyzed that Typhoon Du Suri was predicted to make landfall in Xiamen, and Yang Chuanjiang received a request for assistance from Xiamen. My teammates who are usually in their respective positions immediately gathered and headed against the typhoon from Chengdu to Xiamen.
After a 25 hour drive to Xiamen, Yang Chuanjiang and his team did not rest and immediately went into disaster relief.
Later, the typhoon's influence shifted to Quanzhou, Fuzhou and other places. The Blue Leopard Rescue Team immediately split into two groups, one heading to Quanzhou and the other to Fuzhou.
"The situation in Fangshan District and Mentougou District of Beijing is severe. Quickly gather for rescue in Beijing!" Just as the rescue in Fuzhou ended, the rescue team rushed straight to Beijing without stopping.
"Our vehicle did not stop all the way, and one person was tired from driving. We changed to another person to continue driving. After arriving in Beijing, the situation was more serious than we had imagined." Yang Chuanjiang said, referring to the severe flood situation near Dadi Road in Doudian Town, Fangshan District. They arrived at the scene after 8 pm the night before and worked until 4 am the next day, transferring some of the trapped people.
The rescue team, which had hardly slept for several days in a row, was preparing to take a brief rest at the resettlement site. After 6 a.m. that day, the village cadre called and said that the accumulated water on the road was getting deeper and deeper, with some areas reaching two meters and more than 100 people trapped!
After only resting for over two hours, the members of the Blue Panther rescue team had to immediately return to rescue. "To be honest, in that situation, there's no need to worry about whether you're tired or hungry. There are still so many people who haven't come out yet, and their minds are just thinking about going to save them!"
The Blue Leopard Rescue Team, together with local officials, used two assault boats to transfer more than 100 trapped people to resettlement sites in batches.
It lasted for 7 hours from 6am to 1pm in the afternoon. "After safely transferring over 100 people, the whole team's heart finally relaxed a bit. That feeling is really competing with the Grim Reaper for time," Yang Chuanjiang said excitedly.

Rescuing an elderly family of four, the daughter shed tears, shook hands, and expressed gratitude
In Fangshan District, a family of five is trapped, with four of them being elderly people. The oldest woman is 95 years old. Due to the long waiting time for rescue and the lack of cooperation from the elderly, the rescue team had to provide psychological comfort to the elderly. This poses a significant challenge to the rescue team. "Our rescue workers went to their homes, persuading and helping to pack things, and finally they agreed to go with us."
Yang Chuanjiang said that the elderly are too old to walk at all. A few team members could only hold the elderly one by one in a princess's arms, onto a submachine boat, reach a safe place, and then carry them to a resettlement site.
The rescue team transferred the elderly from their trapped home to a safe location. The old man's daughter, tears streaming down her face, excitedly held the hand of the rescuer and thanked them, "Thank you for saving our family!"

Rescue is still ongoing: "Our existence is to contribute when the people of the whole country need it!"
On August 4th, when a reporter from CCTV connected to Yang Chuanjiang, the rescue work had come to an end. The rescue team continued their post disaster assistance and psychological counseling work near Taipingzhuang on National Highway 107 in Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province.
The 10 person rescue team led by Yang Chuanjiang is all from Sichuan, with the oldest being 48 years old and the youngest being 26 years old. They come from all walks of life. Some start businesses, some work in insurance companies, and some are employees of Internet companies. More than 70% of them are retired soldiers.
Our group of people have participated in rescue work such as the Wenchuan earthquake and the Ya'an earthquake. When one side was in difficulty, we received support from all directions. When a disaster occurred in Sichuan, rescue forces from all over the country rushed to Sichuan, which moved us very much. After experiencing two earthquakes, we spontaneously established rescue teams to contribute when the people of the country needed it!
