Hangzhou, August 29th (Xinhua) - Chinese sports have a long history - the Chinese Sports Culture Exhibition and the Gathering of Sports Light for a Better Future Exhibition, two major sports and cultural exhibitions, recently opened in Hangzhou. The two exhibitions will run through the entire process of the Hangzhou Asian Games and will last until October 8th.
The championship donation ceremony was held at the opening ceremony. Lou Yun, the male gymnastics and vault champion of the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games, donated a commemorative plate for the 1988 Seoul Olympics to the China Sports Museum; Swimming world champion and Asian Games champion Wu Peng donated a gold medal in the men's 400m individual medley at the 2002 Busan Asian Games to the China Sports Museum; Yang Yu, world swimming champion, Asian Games champion, and Olympic runner up, donated swimming caps for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and swimsuits for the 2006 World Championships to the China Sports Museum.
Chinese sports have a long history - the Chinese Sports Culture Exhibition is located at the Hangzhou Asian Games Museum, with a total exhibition area of 500 square meters. It mainly showcases the exquisite collections of the China Sports Museum, with a total of 138 ancient cultural relics exhibited. The cultural relics span from the Spring and Autumn period to the Qing Dynasty, showcasing sports history and cultural stories spanning nearly three thousand years. The exhibition features eight themed exhibition areas, including "Cultural Inheritance of Sports Tracing", "Sincerity Brings Gold and Stone to Open", "Gold and Iron Riding Horses to the South Mountain", "Wind and Clouds Turning Under Hands and Feet", "Cloud Sailing, Canghai Waves Suppressing Flying Boats", "Life's Hundred Dramas and Joyful Feet from the Heart", "Peace is Precious in Stopping the Gorge", and "Winning and Fixing May Be Pleasant in Defeating". The exhibition vividly tells the representative stories of ancient sports such as archery, equestrian archery, cuju, chui wan, water play, dragon boat, fishing, Hundred Dramas, traditional martial arts, and Go. The exhibition explains the principles of upholding virtue and propriety, valuing harmony, natural Taoism, and the unity of heaven and man. The values of Chinese sports culture reflect the inexhaustible vitality of Chinese sports culture and civilization.
The Gathering of Sports Light for a Better Future Exhibition is set up at the Hangzhou National Fitness Center, open to the public. The total exhibition area is 1000 square meters, mainly featuring modern and contemporary sports cultural relics collected by the China Sports Museum, and showcasing sports art works publicly solicited from the society. The exhibition showcases over 100 cultural relics and over 300 artistic works. The exhibition will showcase the Olympic torches and medals collected by the museum over the years. This exhibition has been listed as a cultural experience point during the Asian Games.
It is reported that a series of related supporting activities will also be carried out during the exhibition, such as experiencing ancient sports projects, sports cultural and creative markets, champion face-to-face lectures, promoting the spirit of Chinese sports, collection donation ceremonies, calligraphy and painting art pen club exchanges, sports intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, and youth learning.
