"At the scene of the bridge collapse, one end of the beam was lifted and the other end fell," said the highway traffic police. At the accident site, there was a gap of about 3 meters wide between the expansion joint of the highway road surface and the bridge in the direction of the beam lifting, and the other end fell. At the time of the incident, a small car walking ahead and a van following closely fell into a gap and quickly caught fire. When the highway traffic police arrived at the scene, both vehicles had been burned down.
"There was only one person on the small car with a broken leg, which was rescued by the driver and passengers on the van. There were only two people on the van, all with minor injuries," said the highway traffic police. Before the incident, the van walking behind discovered an abnormality and underwent a deceleration process, avoiding a collision between the two vehicles without causing more serious consequences.
"Behind the van, a truck followed. After the incident, the truck driver urgently activated the dual flashing lights and took emergency braking measures." The highway traffic police told reporters that after the incident, someone took off their clothes and waved vigorously in the direction of the oncoming vehicle, which served as a good warning.
