The next morning, security personnel found these two tourists during a routine inspection before the iron tower opened at 9am. They woke them up and then called in professional high-altitude rescue personnel to take them off the tower and take them to the police station for questioning. Due to this incident, the opening time of the iron tower on that day was delayed by about an hour.
The Eiffel Tower operating company stated that their actions "did not constitute a clear threat", but the company is still preparing to file criminal charges against them.
The day before the two people stayed overnight at the Eiffel Tower, the tower was threatened by bombs twice, resulting in the Eiffel Tower operating company evacuating tourists twice within a day. Afterwards, it was proven that both threats were false alarms, and the police are currently investigating the perpetrators.
