Turn around to generate 34.2 degrees! The world's first 16 MW ultra large capacity offshore wind turbine connected to the grid for wind power generation | offshore | grid connected power generation
Today, the world's first 16 megawatt ultra large capacity offshore wind turbine successfully connected to the grid for power generation at Fujian offshore wind farm, marking a new level in China's research and development, manufacturing, and operation capabilities of offshore wind turbines, reaching an international leading level.
With three 123 meter long blades slowly rotating, the world's first 16 megawatt ultra large capacity offshore wind turbine successfully achieved grid connected power generation. The hub center height of this 16 MW offshore wind turbine reaches 152 meters, equivalent to the height of three Long March 5 launch vehicles. The swept area of the impeller is about 50000 square meters, which is equivalent to the size of 7 standard football fields. Compared to the commonly used 8 MW wind turbines at sea, it saves more than 35% of the sea area. Under rated operating conditions, this 16 megawatt offshore wind turbine can generate 34.2 kilowatt hours of electricity per revolution, with an annual power generation of over 66 million kilowatt hours, which can meet the annual electricity consumption of 36000 households of three.
Lei Mingshan, Chairman of Three Gorges Group: The successful application of 16 MW offshore wind turbines has achieved breakthroughs in core technologies of the offshore wind power industry chain and the industrialization and localization of major equipment, promoting the upgrading of the offshore wind power industry and a significant improvement in overall capabilities, further promoting the sustainable development of China's offshore wind power industry.
According to statistics, nearly 60% of wind power equipment on the global market is currently produced in China. As of the end of 2022, the cumulative installed capacity of offshore wind power in the world reached 57.6 gigawatts, while China's cumulative installed capacity reached 30.51 gigawatts, accounting for 53% of the global market share. China's cumulative export capacity of wind power is 11.93 million kilowatts, covering 49 countries and regions. China's wind power equipment exports are growing rapidly.
