On August 3rd, the People's Government of Haicheng Town, Haifeng County, Shanwei, Guangdong Province, issued a notice that at around 3:00 pm on August 1st, a crowd fell into the water on the Puzaidong section of the Lianhua Mountain Daye River in Haicheng Town, Haifeng County. After the incident, we immediately organized emergency rescue, search and rescue, and other work. After full search and rescue efforts, as of the morning of August 2nd, all personnel who fell into the water have been found, but four of them have no vital signs. Previously, according to boiling point video reports, on August 1st, in Shanwei, Guangdong, it was reported on the internet that residents of Lianhua Mountain in Haifeng County encountered flash floods while camping and playing with water. It is suspected that some people were unable to retreat and were washed away at the scene. On August 3rd, staff from the People's Government of Haicheng Town stated that the Dadongmen River in Lianhua Mountain was surrounded and locked with wire mesh. Some citizens illegally broke the wire mesh and chains to play, and there were warning signs and patrol personnel nearby. On the same day, the patrol personnel reminded, but some people did not listen.
According to the Beijing News, in a video circulating online on August 1st, many people were swimming and playing in the river. Some people on the shore shouted "flash floods are coming", and personal belongings such as umbrellas carried by citizens were instantly washed away. Many people went ashore to take shelter, but still many people were washed away.
A witness told reporters that he went ashore after seeing the rising water and the water turning yellow. Later, he and on-site staff called for tourists to evacuate, and some tourists continued to stay without listening to advice.
On August 3rd, it was confirmed by multiple sources that this incident resulted in the death of four people.
Yu Xiaojie, Deputy Mayor of Haicheng Town in Haifeng County, told reporters that the river section is prohibited from entering the river, and protective measures have been repeatedly damaged. "We locked the door with an iron gate and removed it, and this is not the first time it has been removed."
