To be honest, the US presidential candidate's military base | China | United States
In the past two days, a video of a US presidential candidate's campaign speech has sparked heated discussions. In the video, the presidential candidate told the truth and pointed out that the United States has 313 military bases around China, calling on "Americans to wake up.".
According to CCTV News, recently, Democratic Party candidate Mariana Williamson gave a televised campaign speech in New Hampshire for the 2024 US presidential election.
When asked about the strategy to be adopted to deal with the so-called "China and Cuba are negotiating the construction of new joint military training facilities," Williamson asked in response, "Do you know how many military bases the United States has around China? 313! Americans need to wake up, the world is different now!"
If we do this to us, then we must do the same to you. This is the world we live in now. Times have changed, you can no longer be a teacher all over the world. There are too many US military facilities in the world that should not have existed, and I want to shut them down
Later, she also talked about the provocative actions of the US military in the South China Sea. "We are doing so much in the South China Sea, and of course China is not happy, just like we don't want them to come to Cuba."
"The rest of the world is looking at Iraq, looking at what Afghanistan has experienced in the past 20 years. Do you think these countries will think that China poses a greater military threat to global security, or that the United States poses a greater military threat?" Williamson said, "If elected president, I will help this country look in the mirror."
Williamson further pointed out that it is necessary to see how other countries in the world view the issue, as it is now a multipolar world, no longer a unipolar world. "Once, the United States could roam the world and do whatever it wanted. Doing so allowed us to squander military authority, tarnish moral authority, make us no longer safe, and make ourselves and the people of the world pay the price of our lives."
She called on the United States to become more "humble" and not "continue to be enemies with the world", and to cooperate with China and other countries to address issues such as energy, climate change, and artificial intelligence.
"I will put an end to our 'one enemy, many' attitude and the 'cowboy element' in US foreign policy," Williamson said.
Williamson, now 70 years old, is a best-selling author who announced her candidacy for the 2024 US presidential election in February of this year, becoming the first Democrat to formally challenge current US President Biden. This is her second time running for the presidency of the United States, and she also ran in 2020. However, due to difficulties in fundraising, she ultimately withdrew from the race.
The Governor of Chang'an Street noticed that, as Williamson pointed out, the United States has built a large number of military bases around China and is constantly opening new military bases. However, ironically, the US has also hyped up the threat of Chinese military power and hyped up rumors such as "China building military training bases in Cuba.".
Since the beginning of this year alone, the US military has opened or planned to open new military bases in multiple countries around China.
On January 26th of this year, the United States Marine Corps officially launched the "Blaze Camp" base in Guam, a strategic location in the Pacific. This base is the first newly built base by the US Marine Corps in nearly 70 years, capable of accommodating 5000 Marines.
Military experts believe that Guam, as an overseas territory of the United States, is of great importance in both natural conditions and strategic location. Guam is becoming a "outpost" and "bridgehead" for US military operations in the Asia Pacific region.
In April, the US military established four new bases in the Philippines. The intention towards China at such a point is self-evident.

At the same time, the United States has also set its sights on Pacific island countries. On May 22nd, the United States and Papua New Guinea officially signed a bilateral defense cooperation agreement. According to the agreement, the US military will be "unimpeded" in and out of the Papua New Guinea base, and can carry out development and construction activities outside the base. For this agreement, foreign media continue to hype that this is part of Washington's efforts to "contain China" in the Pacific.
In addition, the US military has stated that it will deploy more military assets in Australia, including deploying more ammunition and fuel to support US military activities, jointly developing airports in northern Australia to support more rotation of US aircraft, expanding the locations where the US military can conduct exercises, and so on.
However, while the United States is aggressively expanding its overseas military bases, it is also exaggerating the threat of Chinese military power and hyping up rumors such as China building "monitoring stations" and "military training bases" in Cuba.
In early June, the Wall Street Journal reported that China and Cuba had secretly reached an agreement to build an electronic monitoring station in Cuba to monitor US military bases. The US government subsequently released confusing and contradictory information on relevant issues, while Cuba refuted this news as "purely fictional and unfounded.".
Coincidentally, the Wall Street Journal recently reported that China is about to reach an agreement with Cuba to establish a military training base, and the People's Liberation Army may be deployed in Cuba for a long time. The Chinese side expresses its hope that relevant parties will devote more energy to matters that are conducive to enhancing mutual trust and promoting regional peace and stable development.
As is well known, the United States has long been militaristic, frequently provoking wars overseas, and exporting instability on a global scale. Overseas military bases have become the forefront of US deterrence and direct military intervention. Statistics show that since 2001, overseas military bases have supported the United States in launching wars or military operations in at least 25 countries.
US military intervention has also created a rare humanitarian disaster in the world.
Since 2001, wars and military actions launched by the United States under the guise of counter-terrorism have resulted in over 900000 deaths, of which approximately 335000 are civilians, millions are injured, and tens of millions are displaced.
In 2003, the Iraq War resulted in the deaths of approximately 200000 to 250000 civilians, with over 16000 directly killed by the US military and over 1 million homeless.
In this context, the United States still frequently hypes up the theory of "China's military threat", undoubtedly seeking excuses for further military expansion and maintaining military hegemony.
American journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh asked in a media interview earlier, "We have about 800 overseas military bases and have spent an unimaginable amount of money on them. Who is the most true 'troublemaker' in the world?"
The answer is self-evident.
