Those "labor silhouettes" fighting on the front line, Fan Xi | construction | high temperature
Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, August 15th (Xinhua) - Under the high temperature, the "silhouette of labor fighting on the front line"

The beginning of autumn has passed, and the temperature in many places is still high. Many workers silently fight on the front line of their posts, some sweating profusely on construction sites, and some rushing to guard in the city, interpreting the beauty of labor with perseverance.
Rooted in the front line, not afraid of "baking" verification
At the construction site of the section from Taiyangshan to Pengyang on the Yinkun Expressway, a dense and flat road surface continues to extend forward.
In the scorching heat wave, the builders of China Railway 15th Bureau are carrying out asphalt pavement work, which is the most challenging task in highway construction. "Temperature control is very important, for example, the temperature of the lower layer should not be lower than 135 degrees Celsius, and the temperature of the middle and upper layers should not be lower than 160 degrees Celsius," said Song Qiangqiang, the chief engineer of the project, while checking the temperature of asphalt paving.
Every morning at 6:30 am, Song Qiangqiang arrives at the construction site. The section from Taiyangshan to Pengyang on the Yinkun Expressway is a major highway passage that runs through the north and south of Ningxia, mostly located in collapsible loess areas, making construction difficult. "As builders, we must ensure construction safety and steadily advance," said Song Qiangqiang.
Thousands of miles away, at the construction site of the first phase of the Aviation Investment and Research Center in Yanliang District, Xi'an City, accompanied by the flames of spray guns, Li Chunyang, a waterproofing worker from China Railway 14th Bureau Construction Company, was buried in his head doing waterproofing work. The black waterproofing membrane under his feet was scorching from the sun.
"The hot weather combined with hot work can cause the soles of shoes to sometimes heat up while squatting on rolls for a long time." Li Chunyang, who has been working in waterproofing for 12 years, said, "No matter how hot or tiring it is, I am very satisfied to contribute to the construction of an aviation new city."
Entering the steel structure manufacturing workshop of the Installation Company of China Construction Second Engineering Bureau in Langfang, Hebei, wearing a thickened headband and thick rubber gloves, welder Zhang Guofeng was performing welding operations. Splashing sparks, scorching welding guns, and even walking one meter away, one can feel the scorching temperature.
"Now is the golden period of construction, and there is a high demand for steel structures. We need to complete the welding task of 200 components every day," said Zhang Guofeng. The reporter learned that in the scorching July, more than 500 workers including Zhang Guofeng produced and manufactured over 6000 tons of steel components, meeting the installation needs of more than 10 projects in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region.
Love and dedication to work, striving for excellence
Hanzhong, Shaanxi, is scorching with outdoor heat waves. At the construction site of the Hanzhong Sino foreign Agricultural Science and Technology Industrial Park project of China Railway 15th Bureau, more than 200 construction workers were fully armed, wearing safety helmets and protective gloves, and nervously and orderly carrying out excavation, support installation, steel reinforcement binding, and welding work on site.
The figure of a hardworking person working selflessly is the most touching "scenery" under the scorching sun.
With a combination, a hook, and a twist, the left hand firmly holds the steel bars in place, and the right hand skillfully uses a tying hook to tie the steel bars tightly... Even wearing thick gloves, the steel bar worker Zhang Gang can skillfully embellish the connections of each steel bar with "tying wire flowers".
"When arranging the basic steel bars, the hooks should face upwards, and the upper layer of the double layer steel bars should face downwards. When binding, the intersection of the two steel bars around should be tied at each point..." When it comes to steel bar installation and binding, Zhang Gang is as familiar as a book. For him, steel reinforcement processing and binding are one of the most critical and safety risk sources in the construction process, which directly affects the quality of the project and particularly tests the skills and patience of practitioners.
At the construction site of the Old Palace Elderly Care Project of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau in Beijing, carpenter Yang Jundong was cutting and processing a template under the scorching sun, with sweat dripping down his cheeks.
"In order to ensure that the main structure is capped as scheduled, we need to seize the time to set up the template. The black template can reach a surface temperature of over 50 degrees Celsius under the scorching sun, which adds a lot of difficulties to cutting and setting up." Yang Jundong said, no matter how hot it is, every operation step must be refined. "Only in this way can the error be controlled at the 'millimeter level', ensuring the safety and molding quality of concrete pouring."
Guarding security and being brave enough to take responsibility
In August, the surface temperature remained high in Yangcheng. In the shield tunnel between Guangzhou Avenue and Tianhe section of Guangzhou Metro Line 10, which is 30 meters underground, the feeling of dampness and stuffiness cannot be ignored. In the control room of the main machine of the shield tunneling machine, which is less than 3 square meters, Yang Shuai, the shield tunneling driver of China Railway 16th Bureau, is staring at the operation panel. The blue cotton work clothes are tightly attached to the back, printing layers of sweat and salt frost.
"The heat emitted by the shield tunneling machine is fully 'absorbed' on site, coupled with the lack of air circulation and high humidity along the coast, it feels like steaming a 'sauna'. Yang Shuai, who has long been accustomed to working underground in the tunnel, said, 'Above the tunnel is the Tianhe Road commercial district, and with the operation of existing subway lines, the control requirements for shield tunneling machine excavation are particularly high. Our underground operations are fine and meticulous, and even a little carelessness is not enough.'"
Under high temperature weather, the long-term high load operation of the power grid is a major test for electricity users. In recent days, Sheng Xiaoxiang, the distribution grid manager of State Grid Huai'an Power Supply Company, has led a team to carry out hidden danger troubleshooting on multiple power supply lines in Qingjiangpu District, Huai'an City.
"Under high temperature and high load operating conditions, power distribution equipment is prone to safety hazards." Sheng Xiaoxiang said that in order to improve the reliability of power supply in the old urban area, Sheng Xiaoxiang and grid members worked overtime to survey the power distribution facilities in the old urban area and actively promoted the renovation of power facilities in old residential areas within their jurisdiction.
Since the beginning of this summer, Sheng Xiaoxiang has led 22 employees of the grid point to complete the operation and maintenance work of 31 residential areas and 40 power supply lines with a total length of approximately 385 kilometers. "Our position is our mission. Our mission is to ensure electricity safety and do our best to protect the lights of every household," said Sheng Xiaoxiang.
