This island country plans to move into the "Metaverse" expert | country | universe
According to the Buenos Aires Economic News Network in Argentina on June 27th, experts estimate that the South Pacific island nation of Tuvalu may become one of the first countries in the world to be eradicated by climate change. At the current rate of sea level rise, the capital city of Funafuti will be completely submerged within 30 years.
According to reports, in the face of this situation, 1/5 of the 12000 residents in the country have decided to immigrate, mainly to New Zealand. The Tuvalu authorities have developed a series of disaster reduction plans to slow down the relocation process.
But at the same time, Tuvalu is also evaluating alternative solutions for the current digital age, which may make it the first fully digitized country in the metaverse.
On November 9, 2022, Tuvalu participants took a group photo at the COP27 Climate Conference held at the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh International Convention Center in Egypt.

The "Future Now" project has emerged. This is a comprehensive plan. On the one hand, it encourages the international community to implement climate change solutions that align with the values of the island country. On the other hand, it ensures the national status and maritime boundaries of the country, even if it no longer exists.
Tuvalu Foreign Minister Simon Koff said, "If one day our government is forced to relocate, or if the population is scattered around the world, then we will have a framework to ensure that we continue to coordinate, provide our services, and manage the natural resources and sovereignty of our waters."
The report states that Tiafu Aliku Island is the first step in this initiative. It is the first Tuvalu island to use satellite and drone images for digital reconstruction, with detailed details and realistic natural landscapes such as beaches.
