The fuel surcharge for air tickets has increased for the first time this year.
On August 1st, the reporter learned that the online travel platform "Qunar" received news from airlines such as China Eastern Airlines and Jiuyuan Airlines that starting from August 5th, 2023, adult passengers will be charged a fuel surcharge of 30 yuan per passenger on routes below 800 kilometers, and 60 yuan per passenger on routes above 800 kilometers.
A reporter from Pengpai News found that Jiuyuan Airlines has released a notice on August 1st on its official website regarding the adjustment of fuel surcharge standards for domestic routes.

Passengers with travel needs in August can save 10/30 yuan in fuel surcharge by booking tickets before the 5th.
In order to reduce the risk of fuel price fluctuations to a certain extent and ensure the operation of airlines, airlines can independently determine the standards for collecting fuel surcharges for domestic route passengers within the prescribed scope. Previously, aviation personnel told reporters from Pengpai News that the fuel surcharge collection on domestic routes adopts a linkage mechanism with aviation kerosene prices. Due to fluctuations in oil prices, various airlines will adjust accordingly.
This adjustment marks the first increase in fuel surcharges since 2023, up 10/30 yuan from the previous month, but still lower than the 60/120 yuan at the beginning of the year. Before the adjustment of the fuel surcharge collection standard, the fuel surcharge remained at 20/30 yuan, and passengers with travel needs can purchase tickets as soon as possible.
Starting from August 5th last year, the fuel surcharge collection standard for domestic flight tickets was adjusted to 80 yuan/140 yuan after being raised for several months. Subsequently, starting from September 5th last year, the fuel surcharge was lowered for the second time within the same year, adjusted to 60 yuan/120 yuan. Starting from January 5th this year, the fuel surcharge has been lowered for the first time in the new year, to 40 yuan/80 yuan. Starting from April 5th, it will be adjusted to 30 yuan/60 yuan. Starting from June 5th, it will be adjusted to 20 yuan/30 yuan. In a continuous downward trend, starting from August 5th this year, it experienced its first rise and was adjusted to 30/60 yuan.
On February 5th last year, airlines resumed the collection of domestic route fuel surcharges, which are divided into two levels: 10 yuan and 20 yuan. From then until August 5th last year, fuel surcharges continued to increase every month. Among them, after the charging standards were raised again on July 5th last year, the fuel surcharge increased to 100 yuan/200 yuan, which is the highest charging standard in China since the introduction of fuel surcharge in 2000.
