This country demands that the United States surrender "criminal evidence", former president "died in service" United States | Chile | Criminal evidence
According to a report by Efi on August 10th, the Chilean House of Representatives approved a request from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the United States to provide some secret files related to US intervention in the government of former Chilean President Salvador Allende and the role played by the United States in the coup that undermined Chilean democracy. The 1973 coup led to a dictatorship led by former Army Commander Augusto Pinochet.
The Chilean legislative group that promoted this measure said, "It needs to be emphasized that saying that the United States intervenes to overthrow President Salvador Allende is not a viewpoint or value judgment, but a statement of reality. Thanks to the work of Peter Coenblu and others, we have gained a better understanding of our country's history."
According to reports, lawmakers pushing for this measure mentioned Peter Coenblu, the head of the Chilean literature project at the National Security Archive in the United States. Cohen Blu recently published the book "Decrypting Pinochet" in Chile.
On September 11, 2022, in Santiago, the capital of Chile, a man held a red carnation to commemorate the 49th anniversary of the death of former President Allende.

The report states that this book is like a comprehensive investigation, reviewing the role played by the United States in the changing situation in Chile over those years, including some undisclosed documents that reveal a secret meeting between Chilean media tycoon Agustin Edwards and then US President Nixon six hours before the latter ordered the CIA to overthrow the Allende government.
The lawmakers pushing for this measure stated that it is entirely logical for the House of Representatives to demand that the Chilean people understand the truth about foreign interference in our country's sovereignty.
According to reports, Salvador Allende was born in 1908 and was elected as the President of Chile in 1970. After taking office, he implemented a series of major economic and social reforms. On September 11, 1973, Pinochet launched a coup against the Allende government, bombing and occupying the Presidential Palace. Allende sacrificed his life in the coup. Chile began a 17 year period of military government rule.
