Diagnosis is a complex process.

There are different methods in foreign countries, and there are no medical guidelines in China at present.

Shen Jie's decision to return to China for medical treatment stems from a failed job search experience after he graduated from studying in Japan. "At present, there are no medical guidelines for adult ADHD in China, and there are no official recommend medical guidelines in the United States. The medical guidelines in the United Kingdom and Germany will put drugs in the front position of comparison." Qin Yanhua said that at present, the treatment method for "adult ADHD" is relatively simple. She will give some drug treatment to patients whose lives are greatly affected, combined with behavioral treatment and psychotherapy. If there is little impact on the life of patients, will prefer to do behavioral therapy.

A neglected "alternative group"

Zhejiang or 1.18 million "adult ADHD" patients

Compared with the well-known "child ADHD", "adult ADHD" is not widely recognized.

In March 2022, when the Shaw Hospital of Zhejiang University opened the "Adult ADHD" clinic, only two numbers were listed in the first month, and one of the patients was an employee of the hospital. However, the outpatient service has been opened for less than half a year, and the appointment registration will have to be arranged 20 days later. At present, there is only this "adult ADHD" clinic in Zhejiang, and such clinics are rare in the country.

According to the World Health Organization's Global Epidemiology Survey, the average prevalence of "adult ADHD" is 2.8 per cent, with 3.6 per cent in high-income groups, 3.0 per cent in middle-income groups and 1.4 per cent in low-income groups. According to relevant data, "adult ADHD" affects at least 25.2 million people in my country, and there may be 1.18 million "adult ADHD" patients in Zhejiang Province.

Chen Wei, a doctoral supervisor at Zhejiang University and director of the Department of Mental Health at Run Run Run Shaw Hospital of Zhejiang University, told reporters that the number of confirmed patients is less than a fraction of the number of hidden patients.
