There is no need for negotiations, Medvedev: Negotiations before seeking forgiveness in Kiev | Ukraine | Kiev
According to TASS on August 6th, Medvedev, Vice Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, stated on the "Telegraph" social media platform that there is no need to negotiate on the situation in Ukraine before Kiev pleads for forgiveness.
According to reports, the International Conference on Ukraine held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia has decided to establish a working group to discuss the "peace formula" clause proposed by Ukrainian President Zelensky to resolve the Ukraine issue. Medvedev commented on this. He emphasized that only when both parties to the conflict participate in negotiations and take into account the current reality, including the new region of Russia, can the negotiations on the Ukrainian issue be successful.
Medvedev wrote, "Negotiations themselves are not necessary at the moment, the enemy should kneel down and beg for forgiveness."
He said, "It's hard to condemn the desire to end the war." However, in his view, any peace proposal needs to meet three key conditions in order to be successful. "The first point is for both parties to the conflict to participate in negotiations. This is currently not possible. The second point is to consider the historical background: Ukraine, as a country, had never existed before 1991 and was part of the Russian Empire. The third point is to consider the current reality: Ukraine is in a semi detached state, and some of its territory has returned to Russia." Medvedev wrote.
He emphasized that "mediators who are willing to acknowledge these obvious things have a chance of success," while other mediators have no chance.
