There are only 10 people left in the world! They passed away before Japan could compensate them
According to a report by South Korean Radio International on the 30th, the South Korean government has filed an appeal and continues to take legal action after the court rejected the deposit application for compensation for victims of Japanese forced labor during World War II. However, even if the victim wins the first and second trials, they still need to wait for the judgment of the Grand Court. Currently, only 10 victims who have not yet received compensation are still alive.
According to reports, in 1945, when Kim Jong ju was 13 years old, he heard that he could see his sister working there when he arrived in Japan, so he set off for Japan. But in fact, she was taken to the military supply factory in Bu Er Yue. Not only did she not see her sister, but she worked hard in a harsh environment, enduring hunger and tears all day long. Jin Zhengzhu said, feeling so hungry and panicked, he dug up grass in the dormitory to eat.
In 2013, Kim Jong chu filed a lawsuit against the Vietnam military supply factory, winning both the first and second trials. However, several years have passed and the Grand Court has not yet made a final judgment. Kim Jong ju said, "Japan will not provide compensation. I have been waiting for decades and hope that the Supreme Court can make a ruling within this year."
The report points out that the victims are of advanced age, and many have passed away without seeing the final verdict. Among the 50 people who filed a lawsuit, only 10 are currently alive.
The report also stated that there are a total of 9 lawsuits pending judgment by the Grand Court against victims of forced labor. However, even if the relevant lawsuit is won, the process of waiting for actual compensation is not expected to be very smooth. In addition, there is a shortage of funds from the Japan Forced Labor Victims Support Foundation, and there are also doubts about whether the South Korean government's "third-party compensation program" can provide compensation to all victims.
