"The wall is about to be washed down!" The forklift driver saved a family of three by going against the current! Wife Speaks Out Forklift | Liu Bing | Reverse
Since July 29th, Beijing has experienced consecutive heavy rainfall. On July 31st, a video of a driver driving a forklift to save lives in Beicheying Village, Fangshan District attracted attention.
In the video, a forklift travels against the current in a turbulent flood, and then the forklift driver uses a shovel to transport two adults and one child to a safe area. After the video was released, netizens praised it one after another: It's so brave to be able to save people against the tide in such a dangerous environment!
"The wall is about to be washed down..."
The reporter learned that the driver of the forklift in the video is named Liu Bing. On the afternoon of August 1st, Liu Bing told the reporter that he was still on site to participate in the rescue.
Recalling a scene in the video, Liu Bing said, "At that time, their family of three stood on the roof calling for help. I saw that the wall was about to be washed down, so I rushed over to save them first."
Liu Bing said that at the time of the incident, there were obstacles on the bridge deck that needed to be cleared before driving through, which was quite difficult. The reporter noticed that the on-site video showed that Liu Bing's forklift had indeed been "jolted" by foreign objects when crossing the bridge. Liu Bing said that in the situation at that time, he could only act according to the situation. From 8:00 am on July 31st until now, he has been participating in the rescue on site, and his meals are arranged uniformly by the village.
"He participated in the rescue at 7.21"
Ms. Chen, the wife of Liu Bing, told reporters that around 8:00 am on July 31st, the water level in the village rose rapidly, and some buildings on the first floor had been submerged. Liu Bing quickly drove a forklift out to rescue people. She said that her husband works in engineering and has a forklift at home, and he also has some driving experience. Due to Liu Bing's phone not being able to charge, the couple only briefly contacted each other a few times thereafter.

Ms. Chen said that she saw the video of her husband saving people that was widely circulated online and "felt quite scared."
Ms. Chen said that this was not the first time Liu Bing had participated in the rescue operation. As early as during the "July 21" rainstorm in 2012, Liu Bing had driven a forklift to transfer trapped people.
At present, Ms. Chen and others have been resettled in hotels. "All four hotels used to accommodate villagers here are fully occupied, and our supplies are all from hotels. Water and electricity are normal, but it should be cut off at home," Ms. Chen said.
"We have saved hundreds of people"
Like Liu Bing, villager Li Dazhen is also driving a forklift to participate in the rescue. He told reporters that starting from the morning of July 31st, he drove a forklift away from home to save people, and did not return home until late that night, during which he only drank a few sips of water. "The water has already wiped out the tires of the forklift, and due to communication interruption, we can only rely on shouting for rescue. We will go wherever there is a sound. Including Liu Bing, there are five or six people who are driving the forklift and excavator together for rescue, all of whom are experienced and around 40 years old," said Li Dazhen.
The flood is turbid and there are foreign objects on the road. Li Dazhen must first remove the foreign objects to ensure the smooth operation of the vehicle before continuing to save people. "We have saved hundreds of people now, and they have all been transferred to the hotels where they were placed." Li Dazhen admitted, "Now I think it's quite dangerous, but there's nothing we can do. So many people are waiting for us to save them. I'm still 43 years old and young, so I have to rush ahead."
