The Universiade is here | Hong Kong girl Hu Baoqin: I am welcoming visitors from all directions in Chengdu | Volunteer | Universiade
The Chengdu Universiade is about to open, and currently 20000 volunteers have gathered and entered service mode, including Hong Kong youth student volunteers. Today, we will meet Hu Baoqin, a volunteer from Hong Kong. As a graduate student at the West China School of Stomatology at Sichuan University, she will serve as a delegation service assistant at the Judo Venue Center during the Universiade, allowing us to experience the Chengdu Universiade from her perspective.
When the reporter saw Hu Baoqin at the judo venue center of the West China Campus of Sichuan University, she was conducting a detailed inspection of the training mat for the judo competition with other competition volunteers.
Hu Baoqin, a volunteer for the Universiade: It is necessary to check if there are any sharp objects inside, such as toothpicks and small stones. Every crack will be carefully cut open and checked because the athlete will first come into direct contact with the mat barefoot to prevent them from getting injured. Therefore, after each match, we will go up to check.
Hu Baoqin said that since the start of the training at the venue, college athletes from multiple countries and regions have come to train in the past two days, with only 20 minutes of preparation time between the two rounds of training. Cleaning personnel and volunteers must use this short 20 minutes to eliminate various hidden dangers.
Hu Baoqin in the venue is meticulous and meticulous. Outside the venue, she was like a little flying person, busy with guiding athletes into the venue, assisting in registration and docking, and inspecting the venue, serving athletes with water and tea breaks.
Hu Baoqin, a volunteer for the Universiade: If you walk inside, there is a tea break area specifically designed for athletes. They can go drink water and rest, and there is also a medical room specifically designed for athletes. If their language is not clear, we also have a dedicated translation machine for them to deal with.
Although volunteer service is meticulous and tedious, Hu Baoqin enjoys it and often gains a sense of achievement from his work.
Universiade volunteer Hu Baoqin: Just like yesterday when we had an athlete who left the field and got into that car, he suddenly realized that he had lost something. Then we dispersed all the volunteers to help him find it, and they brought it back. When we gave it to him, he was very happy, and we also had a great sense of achievement. We can help him achieve this.
It is reported that during the Universiade, more than 140 student athletes will participate in the medal competition in 11 events in Hong Kong. Hu Baoqin hopes to attract more attention from the Hong Kong people to the grand event through his own efforts.
Volunteer for the Universiade, Hu Baoqin: Hong Kong friends may have some understanding of such large-scale events, but they may not be very familiar with the details. I will share with them, and I think I can go back and share with them the details that I have a better understanding of, such as when an event started preparing and how they operate.
In addition to attracting more attention from Hong Kong people to the grand occasion of the Universiade, Baoqin said that this volunteer service not only broadened her horizons, but also exposed her to cultures from different countries and regions, made many new friends, and she hopes to welcome and serve guests from all directions through the joint efforts of herself and her friends.
Hu Baoqin, a volunteer for the Universiade: I would like friends from Hong Kong who have never been to Chengdu, or those who have, to come and take a look again, because its urban development and transportation are more convenient. As a volunteer for the Universiade, we sincerely invite everyone to come to Chengdu to see and experience the various competitions of the Universiade, and feel the enthusiasm and vitality of young people.
