CCTV News: The opening of the Chengdu Universiade is imminent. From venue construction to event support, the Chengdu Universiade has highlighted a green and low-carbon concept in its preparation.
According to the organizing committee of the Chengdu Universiade, in order to fully ensure green travel during the competition, 1340 new energy buses and more than 1100 new energy vehicles will be used for transportation services during the Universiade. 50 hydrogen fuel vehicles will be equipped in the Longquanyi competition area for event support. Over the past two days, the relevant vehicles have been gradually debugged and delivered.
Sichuan TV reporter Wang Xing: The vehicle I am currently debugging behind me is the last batch of large-scale transportation guarantee buses delivered to Chengdu Public Transport Group. During the Universiade, it will be uniformly allocated and used by Chengdu Public Transport Group to ensure the public transportation of the city.

In addition to event support, environmental protection concepts are also more prominent in venue construction. The Xiangcheng Sports Center, located in Xindu District, Chengdu, is the venue for the water polo competition at the Universiade. At the beginning of construction, Xiangcheng Sports Center integrated the design concept of Sponge City, using permeable concrete for pavement on the periphery. This not only allows for efficient water infiltration and permeability, but also preserves natural rainwater for recycling. In addition, the sloping roof can collect and store rainwater, and with the design of a sunken permeable green belt, the stored rainwater can enter the water storage tank at the bottom of the venue. After purification treatment, it can be used as daily greening water for the venue. It is reported that the venue is expected to save over 3000 tons of water annually.
In addition, the Chengdu Universiade will also refer to the Beijing Winter Olympics and release the "Green and Low Carbon Organizing Report for the Chengdu Universiade" after the competition, extracting typical cases and forming a green and low-carbon practice heritage for the Universiade.
