Abandoned mines transform into "Tianchi", revealing the colorful secrets of pool water ->Ecology | Restoration | Secrets
The environment is about people's livelihoods, and ecological construction is related to people's well-being. In Mengjialing Town, Lishu County, Siping City, Jilin Province, there is a landscape of "Little Tianchi". Its predecessor was a "waste mine pit", which was once destroyed by long-term mining of minerals and surrounding forest land. In 2018, during the implementation of the mine greening and ecological restoration project, the local area carried out the greening of mines and developed ecotourism.
CCTV reporter Zhang Aoran: I am currently in the midst of a newly planted spruce in the local area this year. Although they are not very tall yet, in the future, they can grow to over 40 meters and become another piece of green in this landscape.
The Heavenly Pool next to me has no filters or color adjustments. It presents a faint blue color, crystal clear like jade.
Through the underwater machine, we can clearly see small fish and tadpoles. These waters all gush out from underground, combined with some natural rainfall, to form such a small Tianchi. Do you think we are in an ecological park after seeing these beautiful scenery? Actually, this is a huge pit.
The entire area under the pit is the size of 30 football fields, and the height from the bottom of the pit to the ground is nearly 50 meters. Why did such a large pit form? This matter has to be talked about 50 years ago.
In fact, when it comes to pear trees, local elders would say that in the past, there were colorful local specialties here, which referred to limestone. At its peak, there were 108 mining companies and thousands of miners here.
This is a remote sensing image taken by the Jilin-1 satellite from an altitude of 500000 meters recently. Look at every point on my finger now, it is a mine pit left over from mining in the past, with nearly 70 large and small pits. Once production started, it would roll up a lot of dust.
With the transformation of economic development, as of 2018, all backward and substandard mines in the local area have been closed and ecological restoration has begun. The first step is to demolish the ground facilities in the mines and carry out protective soil backfilling, with over 100000 trees transplanted. At the same time, an evaluation was conducted on the land, and 3000 acres of land were suitable for creating an ecological landscape.
In the process of restoring the ecology, the local area has also preserved some of the characteristics of the original mining site. For example, the traces of excavation are still preserved on the cliff, and it is precisely because the limestone here has different colors that when sunlight reflects in the water, it forms a colorful Tianchi.
In addition, the local area has also repaired the quarry and built facilities such as observation platforms. Nowadays, this has become an ecotourism resort.
From abandoned steep cliffs to today's poetic and picturesque scenery, we can truly feel that green mountains and clear waters are a core productive force for rural development or local economic development. We also hope that such beautiful scenery can allow more people to feel the happiness brought by ecological changes.
