Recently, more than 20 provinces in China have successively released their economic development performance reports for the first half of this year. The data shows that since the beginning of this year, new economic drivers have accelerated and high-quality development has been solidly promoted in various regions.
In terms of economic output, in the first half of the year, the gross domestic product of Guangdong and Jiangsu exceeded 6 trillion yuan, Shandong exceeded 4 trillion yuan, and Zhejiang exceeded 3 trillion yuan. From the perspective of economic growth rate, provinces such as Hainan, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Shandong all have growth rates exceeding 6%.
From a regional perspective, in the first half of the year, the role of the "ballast stone" in the eastern region continued to play, the economy in the western region remained stable and improved, the economy in the central region continued to recover, and the economy in the northeast region accelerated.
Huang Hanquan, President of the China Institute of Macroeconomics: In the eastern region, especially in economically strong provinces such as Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang, the growth rate is higher. The western and northeastern regions have maintained rapid growth, with economic growth in Jilin, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, and other regions reaching over 6%, higher than the national average.
In the first half of the year, the advanced equipment manufacturing, high-tech manufacturing, and automotive manufacturing industries in many provinces across the country showed rapid growth. The pace of integrated development of science and technology innovation and industry in the Yangtze River Delta has accelerated, and joint research and development plans have been deeply implemented around key industrial chains such as integrated circuits, biopharmaceuticals, and artificial intelligence, achieving significant results.
Bi Jiyao, Vice President of the China Institute of Macroeconomics: In some regions, the growth rate of high-tech industries and equipment manufacturing is far higher than the overall industrial growth rate. Some industries such as new energy vehicles and lithium batteries are growing very fast. Our economic structure is optimizing, and regional coordinated development is steadily advancing.
