The sender claims to be bombing the South Mountain Tower in Seoul, and South Korea is now threatening email addresses | Police | South Korea
According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean police received a call on August 9. The suspect who sent a bomb threat e-mail to threaten the killing of politicians sent another e-mail claiming to blow up several facilities such as Seoul's Nanshan Tower. The police are conducting an investigation.
It is reported that the 112 alarm call was received at around 10am on the same day. The sender claimed that they would bomb the National Central Museum, the Japanese Embassy in South Korea, Seoul Tower, and Japanese schools. The police found that the sender, recipient, and email IP address were all the same as the threatening email on August 7th.
On the 7th, several government officials in Seoul received a bomb threat email. The sender claimed that if the leader of the largest opposition party, the Democratic Party of Korea, Lee Jae ming, is not killed before 3:34 pm on August 9th, a time bomb set up in a library in Seoul will be detonated. This email is sent from a Japanese email account and contains information such as phone and fax numbers, as well as the name and affiliation of the bomb setting personnel.
After receiving the alarm, the police deployed the special forces bomb disposal team and sniffing dogs to carry out explosive detection work at the location mentioned in the email, but no explosives were found. The Seoul Police Department's Cybercrime Investigation Team has preliminarily determined that the two emails were sent by the same person and requested the assistance of the Japan Police Agency in investigating the case.
It is reported that both emails were sent from an email account of a Japanese law firm.
