He quickly took his wife to the opposite slope of the house, and other villagers in the village also ran up the slope to take refuge. Shortly after the incident, rescue personnel arrived at the scene.
At present, the mudslide has blocked the river and formed a barrier lake next to the village. The government, fire department, emergency department, and others are dealing with it on site.

"Five people in our village have been lost, and two have been found so far," Mr. Zhang told reporters. These five villagers include two couples and one male villager. He heard that one of them wanted to go to the parking spot by the river to drive their car out during a mudslide, but unfortunately it was washed away by the mudslide.

A homestay owner in Xinqiao Village, Weizhou Town, Wenchuan County, introduced that at the time of the incident, a mudslide washed onto the road and traffic was temporarily suspended. Several passing drivers then checked in at his homestay. But about an hour after checking in, someone informed us that the road was reopened, and the driver who checked in decided to check out and leave. The boss explained that it was mainly showers at that time, and the duration was not too long.
"On the evening of the 26th, it rained lightly here, but the rain in the mountain ditch could be very heavy." A villager from Xinqiao Village explained that her home is about two to three kilometers away from the Xinqiao ditch where the mudslide occurred. At around 11 pm that evening, a village official told her not to sleep for now, fearing that the mudslide could cause danger. About a few hours later, the village officials announced that someone was on guard and asked them to rest peacefully, during which no dangerous situations occurred nearby.
The villager of Xinqiao Village stated that on the morning of the 27th, she found that the water pipe connected to her home from Xinqiao Gully was damaged, causing her home to temporarily have no water available. She also heard that one of the lost drivers was a young driver, "He's only in his twenties and hasn't gotten married yet."
The government staff of Weizhou Town stated that relevant leaders have gone to the scene for rescue. Wenchuan County government staff said that search and rescue are still ongoing.
