Prevent stampede

If you find a large crowd coming towards you, try to avoid it as much as possible, hide on the side, or squat in a nearby corner, waiting for the crowd to leave.

Once entering the crowd, do not stop in the flow of people; Don't go against the trend, otherwise you may be easily pushed down; Don't rashly lift shoes, bend down to pick up things, or tie shoelaces. Keep calm and keep your center of gravity steady to prevent falling.

When the crowd is unusually crowded, clench your fist with your left hand, hold your wrist with your right hand, and spread your elbows flat on your chest to create a certain space for breathing.

Drowning usually occurs in places such as swimming pools, reservoirs, puddles, ponds, rivers, streams, and beaches.

How to save oneself in case of drowning

Don't panic, call for help immediately when you find someone around you.

Relax the whole body, let the body float on the water, float the head out of the water, kick the water with your feet to prevent physical loss, and wait for rescue.

When the body sinks, the palm can be pressed down.

If you suddenly experience cramps in the water and cannot get ashore, seek help immediately. If there is no one around, you can take a deep breath and dive into the water, straighten the leg of your ankle, and use your hand to pull your toes up to relieve cramps.

The first aid measures vary depending on the drowning status

If the drowning person is awake, comfort and accompany them, pay attention to keeping warm, and if necessary, go to the hospital for observation.

If the drowning person is unconscious but breathing, and there is upward and downward movement in the chest and abdomen, lie the drowning person on their side, open the airway, clean up foreign objects in the mouth and nose, and wait for the ambulance to arrive.

If the drowning person does not respond and there is no upward or downward movement of the chest and abdomen within 5-10 seconds, then cardiac arrest has occurred. Start cardiopulmonary resuscitation immediately, administer 5 artificial breaths first, followed by 30 chest compressions. Continue with 30 chest compressions and 2 artificial breaths until the patient responds and breathes, or emergency personnel arrive.

Asphyxia and hypoxia are the key causes of cardiac arrest in drowning patients, and artificial respiration should be prioritized before chest compressions.
