According to the website of the Russian newspaper, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said on June 24 during a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization that Russia will retain control over tactical nuclear weapons deployed in Belarus, which is in line with international obligations.
According to the report, Lavrov said, "Our Belarusian friends and Russian representatives have repeatedly explained this. This does not violate any international obligations, including those under the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons."

Lavrov stated that Russia reserves control over weapons deployed on the territory of alliance countries, which fully ensures the fulfillment of the aforementioned obligations.
According to reports, on June 9th, Russian President Putin stated in an informal meeting with Belarusian President Lukashenko in Sochi that the Russian military will immediately begin deploying Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus after completing the construction of relevant facilities in early July, and all related preparations are proceeding as planned.
