Previously, on May 25th, the Logistics Support Department of Shenzhen University issued a notice prohibiting unauthorized picking of lychee and other fruits in the campus, stating that this year's lychee and other fruit trees at Shenzhen University are gradually maturing. Recently, there have been some uncivilized behaviors on the campus: climbing trees to pick fruits at will, and even hitting immature fruits on branches with sticks. The above behaviors damage the campus greening and beautification environment, and climbing trees endangers the personal safety of teachers and students; Moreover, lychee and other fruits are not yet fully ripe and are currently in the stage of spraying pesticides for pest control. Do not pick or consume them. All teachers, students, and staff are advised not to pick fruits such as lychees without authorization to avoid personal safety accidents. After the fruits are ripe, they will be picked in an orderly manner for teachers and students to taste.
According to public information, Shenzhen University, also known as "Liyuan" or "Litchi University," is named after nearly 2000 lychee trees covering an area of up to 20000 to 30000 square meters on its campus. Shenzhen University has been hosting the campus lychee festival since 2006, with annual gatherings under the shade of green and red fruits blooming in the sleeves.
In 1983, Shenzhen University was established, and hundreds of acres of lychee orchards from several nearby villages were requisitioned. Now, the lychee trees on the campus have basically preserved their original terrain and location. Before 2013, Shenzhen University's lychee forest was outsourced and a fine of 50 yuan was imposed for picking one lychee. In 2013, the outsourcing contract expired and the lychee forest was under the independent management of the school.
