Stanford University President Mark Tessie Lavigne announced on August 19th that he will resign from his position as president after the results of a special committee's review of his academic misconduct were announced. He will resign on August 31st.
The Stanford University Board of Directors established a special committee in December last year to launch an investigation into allegations of academic misconduct by Taissier Lavigne. After several months of comprehensive verification, the special committee released a detailed report on the 19th.
The report states that investigators focused on reviewing 12 papers co authored by Tasier Lavigne. Among his 5 papers as the main author, they found conclusive evidence that some members of the laboratory he was responsible for improperly manipulated scientific data or had problems with experimental operations, resulting in significant flaws in the papers. Tasier Lavigne failed to take necessary measures to correct the relevant errors.
Tasier Lavigne accepted the conclusion of the report, made corrections and withdrawals to the relevant papers, and made a decision to resign.
Stanford University Board Chairman Yang Zhiyuan announced on the university's website that he accepts Tessie Lavigne's resignation and confirms that he will continue to serve as a tenured professor in the Department of Biology. The board of directors also established a committee to begin the selection process for the next president, and appointed Richard Salle as the interim president starting from September 1st.
