The Hangzhou Asian Games will open on September 23, which is the largest and highest level international comprehensive sports event held in China after the successful convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. On June 15th, the countdown to the opening of the Hangzhou Asian Games was 100 days. On the morning of June 14th, the State Council Information Office held a press conference to introduce the preparations for the Hangzhou Asian Games and the Asian Para Games.
The preparatory work is basically ready
Zhou Jinqiang, Vice Chairman of the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, Deputy Director of the General Administration of Sport of China, and Vice Chairman of the Chinese Olympic Committee, introduced that currently, all 45 Asian countries and regions have signed up for the Olympic Games, many of which will send the largest sports delegation in history. "It can be seen that athletes from various countries and regions in Asia are full of expectations for the Hangzhou Asian Games and eagerly look forward to coming to China and Zhejiang," Zhou Jinqiang said.
The Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, as well as six competition areas including Ningbo, Wenzhou, Jinhua, Shaoxing, and Huzhou. At present, all 56 competition venues have completed the functional acceptance of the competition and have the ability to operate the competition. Li Yanyi, Deputy Governor of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, introduced that 56 competition venues, 31 training venues, and facilities such as the Asian Games Village are ready, and 42 full element, full process, and full load testing exercises have been carried out.
In addition to creating a first-class competition environment, the host has also prepared professional and meticulous service guarantees. Li Yanyi stated that Zhejiang has established a full cycle service guarantee system covering all aspects of the event, including concierge, arrival and departure, transportation, accommodation, and medical care. It has also created the first digital observation service platform in the country, providing one-stop online services such as ticket purchase, travel, observation, and tourism for Asian Games spectators. "We recruit and train 50000 competition volunteers and 1.42 million city volunteers, striving to make guests feel the comfort and warmth of home in Zhejiang," said Li Yanyi.
As the countdown to the opening of the Hangzhou Asian Games approaches 100 days, the atmosphere of the Asian Games is gradually becoming lively and strong. Li Yanyi introduced that on June 15th, a torch collection ceremony for the Asian Games will be held at the World Heritage Site of Liangzhu Ancient City. Asian Games medals and songs will also be released at the 100 day countdown theme event. "Complete all testing competitions in July, comprehensive drills in August, and all related work in September to welcome guests from all parties," said Li Yanyi.
Chinese players fully participate in the competition
This Asian Games has a total of 40 major events, 61 sub events, and 483 sub events, including the vast majority of Olympic events such as athletics and swimming, as well as some unique sports representing Asian culture such as martial arts, wicker ball, cricket, jujujutsu, and emerging sports favored by young people such as skateboarding, rock climbing, and esports. "This not only reflects the Olympic elements, but also provides an opportunity for Asian countries and regions to showcase their own sports and cultural characteristics, fully demonstrating the diversity and inclusiveness of Asian sports culture." Zhou Jinqiang said.
At present, the General Administration of Sport of China is carrying out the work of forming a Chinese sports delegation. At that time, more than 900 athletes representing China's highest level will participate in the competition, competing with athletes from various Asian countries and regions. Zhou Jinqiang introduced, "The Hangzhou Asian Games is the home ground for Chinese athletes and also a stage test for preparing for the Paris Olympics. They will strive to achieve excellent results, showcase a good style, and achieve both sports results and spiritual civilization."
Zhao Sujing, Vice Chairman of the Hangzhou Asian Paralympic Organizing Committee and Vice Chairman of the China Disabled Persons Federation, introduced that maintaining a leading position, achieving both sports performance and spiritual civilization, and ensuring the achievement of exciting competitions and outstanding participation are the participation goals of the Chinese Disabled Persons Sports Delegation in this year's Asian Paralympic Games. In the next stage, we will continue to focus on preparing for key projects and strive to obtain more competition spots.
In addition, anti doping work has now become an important aspect of international large-scale comprehensive sports events. Zhou Jinqiang introduced that during the Hangzhou Asian Games, 58 doping checkpoints will be set up in competition venues and athlete villages to conduct doping tests on athletes' urine, blood, and dry blood points. The Hangzhou Asian Games will for the first time use China's independently developed anti doping intelligent management platform to carry out paperless doping inspections and use "Made in China" dry blood point inspection equipment.
Frugality in organizing competitions for public sharing
The original intention of this year's Hangzhou Asian Games was to promote the development and sharing of the national Games. After the postponement of the Asian Games, the Hangzhou Asian Games set a precedent for comprehensive sports venues in China to be opened to the public before the competition. All competition and training venues were opened to the public, with over 8 million people participating in fitness activities.
Yao Gaoyuan, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee and the Asian Disabled Persons Organizing Committee, and Mayor of Hangzhou Municipal People's Government, stated that "simplicity, safety, and excitement" are the requirements for hosting the games. "Simplicity" is the top priority and is one of the important requirements for hosting the Asian Games. As a "heritage of the Asian Games," the sustainable utilization of venues is the greatest frugal concept.
"After the venue is built, the biggest waste is if it is left idle there," said Yao Gaoyuan. "56 venues started planning for post competition utilization from the beginning of construction. Currently, 51 venues have formulated specific utilization plans for the next step and have identified operational units for sustainable operation."
Li Yanyi introduced that during the preparation process for the Asian Games, Zhejiang has always adhered to the concept of green, intelligent, frugal, and civilized competition. The construction of Asian Games venues adheres to the principle of "can be changed, not built". Among the 56 competition venues, only 12 are newly built venues, while the rest are renovated or temporarily built.
Chen Weiqiang, Executive Secretary General of the Hangzhou Organizing Committee for Asian Games and Asian Paralympics, and Deputy Mayor of Hangzhou Municipal People's Government, stated that the venues for the Asian Games and Asian Paralympics are mainly divided into two categories: the first category is popular venues that can be used by the general public, and the second category is relatively professional venues. "We regard the first type of popular venues as important bases for national fitness, and the overall guiding principle is to benefit the people and open up. Professional venues will provide training bases for professional teams." Chen Weiqiang said, "Whether it is popular venues or professional venues, we hope to host as many events as possible and maximize the role of venues."
