On August 19th, the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan released information on the investigation of Ms. Zheng's disappearance case.

On August 23rd, Talante Toksongbayev, a staff member of Visit Alay Tourism Company, told Red Star News that Ms. Zheng had booked an 11 day tour on Visit Alay, which was very popular.
Tarant introduced that Ms. Zheng started her trip on July 18th. According to the plan, on the second day of her trip, Ms. Zheng will go to a small village. This village has beautiful scenery and is a must visit destination for tourism. The driver took Ms. Zheng to the vicinity of a bridge, she walked over the bridge, and then walked for about 2 hours to reach the village. After staying overnight in the village, the driver will pick up Ms. Zheng near the bridge and head to the next destination.
However, at the agreed time, Ms. Zheng did not appear. The driver waited for several hours but still didn't see her, so he went to the police station to report the case. Subsequently, three police officers and drivers went to the village where Ms. Zheng was missing and asked the villagers if they had seen her. But the villagers said they didn't see her. The next day, the police returned to the area where Ms. Zheng was missing again and searched along the riverbank, but found nothing.
To his knowledge, on August 21st, the police were still searching in the village area, but still could not find Ms. Zheng.
Tarant said that tourism company staff have also helped the police search together. At present, they believe the most likely scenario is that Ms. Zheng fell into the river and was washed away by the river. That river is very wide, and similar accidents have occurred before. Due to the wide river channel, it has caused significant difficulty in searching. In late August, the river water level will drop, and they will continue to search. According to Talant's understanding, the police have currently obtained three bags from Ms. Zheng, which contain her passport and green card.
