The personnel involved in the case have been detained, and a gap has been excavated in the Ming Great Wall, a cultural relic protected by the province of Shanxi
The 32nd Great Wall in Youyu County, Shanxi Province is a section of the Ming Great Wall, named after the 32nd beacon tower of the Ming Great Wall entering Youyu County. There are still relatively complete side walls and beacon towers, and it is a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit. It is famous for its majestic and vast ancient frontier customs, and has important protection and research value. However, some walls of the Great Wall have been severely damaged recently.
At around 4:20 pm on August 24th, the Command Center of Youyu County Public Security Bureau received a report that a gap had been dug in the 32 Great Wall within Yangqianhe Township. After receiving the alarm, the Criminal Investigation Brigade quickly rushed to the scene. After inspecting the traces on site, the police preliminarily determined that the ancient Great Wall was damaged by large-scale mechanical excavation. Subsequently, police followed the line and found an excavator and a man and a woman in neighboring and Linger counties. After on-site questioning, it was found that the ancient Great Wall was damaged by the two people. The police summoned the two people back to the county public security bureau for further investigation. According to the investigation, when the suspect Mr. Zheng and Mr. Wang were constructing near the Thirty second Great Wall, in order to save the journey, they used excavators to excavate the original notch of the ancient Great Wall into a large gap so that the excavator could pass through the gap, which caused irreversible damage to the integrity of the Ming Great Wall and the safety of cultural relics. At present, two suspect have been detained in accordance with the law, and the case is under further investigation.
