Liu Jie, the deputy mayor of Longquan Town, is responsible for flood control in six villages and communities including Zhongmensi Village. For two consecutive days, he and his colleagues closed dangerous road sections, cleaned up the spillway, and rushed to the low-lying Sanjiadian village in the rain late at night. They called each resident to notify them and cleared away more than 200 cars. That night, a colleague noticed something unusual in Liu Jie's body and asked him to quickly take the quick acting heart saving pill.
On the morning of the 31st, the rain continued to increase, and there was a danger in the Zhongmensi Village area. More than 300 people urgently needed to be evacuated, and Liu Jie, who had not slept all night, drove to the scene. On the way to the village, the water was getting deeper and deeper. Liu Jie noticed that some people were preparing to move the car, and he shouted loudly, urging them to give up moving the car and return to the high ground. At this moment, the flash flood suddenly poured down, and Liu Jie had no time to evacuate. Li Qiaoling, a member of the Zhongmensi Village Committee, stood on a high ground watching his car being swept into the raging flood.
