The opening and handover ceremony of the Chinese Martyrs Cemetery for Aid to the Elderly was held in Oudomxay Province, Laos
On the morning of June 6th, the completion and handover ceremony of the renovation and protection project of the Mongsai and Namo Chinese Martyrs Cemetery in Oudomxay Province, Laos was held at the Mongsai Chinese Martyrs Cemetery. More than 100 representatives from various sectors of China and Laos attended the ceremony.
On the spacious memorial square, the martyrs' monument, engraved with the words "Chinese Revolutionary Martyrs Eternal" in both Chinese and Lao characters, stands tall and towering. The ceremony began with the national anthems of China and Laos; After singing the national anthem, the whole audience stood in silence, paying tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed themselves in supporting the elderly and resisting the United States; After the silence, representatives from both countries presented flower baskets to the Chinese martyrs who supported the elderly and unveiled the plaque for the cemetery. Both China and Laos signed a transfer agreement on site, and the Chinese side will transfer two cemeteries to the Lao side for maintenance and management.
In his speech, Qian Feng, Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs of China, expressed deep remembrance and high respect to the Chinese martyrs who sacrificed their lives in supporting the elderly and resisting the United States. He also expressed gratitude to the Laotian government and people who provided strong support for the construction of cemeteries, as well as to the embassy and construction units in Laos. He stated that the Martyrs Cemetery in old China is an important carrier for promoting the spirit of martyrs and inheriting the friendship between China and Laos.

Chinese Ambassador to Laos, Jiang Zaidong, stated that the internationalist spirit of revolutionary predecessors has been fully inherited and widely promoted, and the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Laos has been fully launched. The socialist cause defended by the martyrs with their lives is showing vigorous vitality in both China and Laos.
Li Bao, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Welfare of Laos, and Song Ji, Deputy Governor of Oudomxay Province, expressed sincere gratitude and deep condolences to the Chinese martyrs who sacrificed their lives on the land of Laos, and thanked the Chinese government for providing assistance in maintaining and repairing the Martyrs Cemetery in Laos. Laos will continue to properly manage and maintain the Martyrs Cemetery, and serve as a patriotic education base for young people in Laos, playing a positive role in inheriting the revolutionary friendship between Laos and China, promoting friendly cooperation and development between the two countries.
In the 1960s and 1970s, hundreds of Chinese soldiers and civilians sacrificed their lives in support of Laos in its struggle for national independence and people's liberation. At present, 215 Chinese martyrs supporting the elderly are buried in three Chinese martyr cemeteries in Monsai, Namo, and Mengbei in Oudomxay Province, Laos.

In September 2016, the governments of China and Laos signed an agreement to fully launch the renovation and protection project for the Martyrs Cemetery in Laos. At present, the renovation and protection projects for the three Chinese martyr cemeteries have been completed.
