The UK Virgin Galactic's "Unity" spacecraft successfully completed its mission on August 10th, allowing three ordinary passengers to experience a space trip.
The Virgin Galactic Eve catamaran, carrying the USS Solidarity spacecraft, took off at 10:30 Eastern Time on the 10th from a space launch site in New Mexico. After reaching an altitude of approximately 12000 meters, the USS Solidarity was released.
Subsequently, the "Unity" rocket engine was started to accelerate, and after a few minutes, the engine was shut down and continued to climb with the help of inertia. After reaching the highest point nearly 89 kilometers above the ground, the "Unity" slowly turned and glided down, finally landing smoothly on the launch runway. The entire journey takes 1 hour.
According to CNN, after the USS Unity climbed up to its highest point, passengers would experience several minutes of weightlessness.
The three ordinary passengers carried by the "Unity" spacecraft on this space trip are former British Olympic athlete Jon Goodwin, who is 80 years old, fitness coach Keisha Shahaf, who is 46 years old from Antigua and Barbuda, and her 18-year-old daughter Anastasia Mayers.
Goodwin participated in the canoeing competition at the Munich Olympics in Germany in 1972 and bought tickets for a space cruise at Virgin Galactic in 2005 for $200000 each. In 2014, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. He hopes that his space trip can inspire those who encounter misfortunes, letting them know that they can still pursue their dreams in adversity.

Shahaf won himself and his daughter Mayers tickets worth $450000 each by participating in a space travel lottery organized by a fundraising platform. Mayers is currently a second year student at the University of Aberdeen in the UK, majoring in philosophy and physics.
Another astronaut coach and two pilots piloting the "Unity" spacecraft participated in this space trip.
According to the Associated Press, the space trip codenamed "Galaxy 02" is Virgin Galactic's seventh space trip since 2018 and the first commercial space trip to carry ordinary passengers.
The "Unity" spacecraft completed its first full manned space test flight on July 11, 2021. The founder of the company, Richard Branson, participated in the test flight as a crew member. At the end of June this year, Virgin Galactic completed its first commercial space trip, codenamed "Galaxy 01". The flight was piloted by two pilots and carried four passengers, including an astronaut coach and three Italian Air Force personnel. They conducted 13 scientific experiments in space.
Virgin Galactic has sold approximately 800 space cruise tickets, with early ticket prices ranging from $200000 to $250000 per seat. After the first full manned space test flight of the "Unity" spacecraft, the ticket price rose to $450000.
