The Ministry of Transport's Rescue System Deploys Professional Forces to Respond to Typhoon "Sula" and "Sea Anemone"
Beijing, August 31 (Xinhua) - According to the Rescue and Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, the rescue system of the Ministry of Transport has deployed 16 high-power rescue ships and 9 rescue helicopters to strengthen its response to the upcoming 9th typhoon "Sula" and 11th typhoon "Haikui" of this year.
The relevant person in charge of the Rescue and Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport introduced that starting from the 28th, the Rescue and Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport requires relevant units, including the South China Sea Rescue Bureau and the East China Sea Rescue Bureau, to continuously optimize and strengthen the deployment and prevention of areas affected by typhoons, and timely optimize and adjust the standby capacity on duty. In response to typhoon "Sura", the South China Sea Rescue Bureau has focused on strengthening the deployment of rescue forces in the eastern Guangdong sea area, the the Pearl River Estuary, and the Hainan sea area, and has arranged 7 high-power rescue ships, 2 rescue helicopters, and 5 emergency rescue teams to be on duty. In response to Typhoon "Haikui", the East China Sea Rescue Bureau has focused on strengthening the deployment of rescue forces in waters such as the Taiwan Strait, the coastal areas of Zhejiang, Zhoushan, and the mouth of the Yangtze River. It has arranged 9 high-power rescue ships, 7 rescue helicopters, and 6 emergency response teams. At the same time, in order to prepare for various emergency rescue operations, an additional 32 salvage vessels were coordinated to carry out emergency linkage work within the region.
The person in charge stated that in the next step, the rescue system of the Ministry of Transport will closely monitor the development of typhoons, organize relevant units to further optimize the deployment of rescue forces, strengthen emergency duty in key sea areas, properly arrange duty standby and emergency rescue work, and ensure that in the event of a dangerous situation, they can quickly deploy and effectively implement rescue.
It is understood that Typhoon "Sula" is expected to make landfall along the coast from Huilai, Guangdong to Hong Kong from the afternoon to the night of September 1. It is also possible to move towards the southwest direction in the coastal waters of eastern Guangdong. The expected landing intensity is strong or super strong typhoon level. The Central Meteorological Observatory has upgraded and issued the highest level typhoon red warning. Typhoon "Haikui" is expected to enter the southeastern waters of the East China Sea on the night of September 1st.
