The Meiyi aircraft spewed flames in the air! The airline responded to the reason in half an hour | Engine | Passenger plane
Due to the engine emitting flames, a Southwest Airlines flight took off and returned about half an hour later.
According to the Associated Press on August 17th, the Boeing 737 with flight number 307 was originally scheduled to take off from William Peters Hobby Airport in Houston on the 15th, with its destination being Cancun International Airport in Mexico. However, shortly after takeoff, one of the engines caught fire and the plane returned home. Fortunately, it landed safely and did not cause any casualties.
In a video released by Fox TV, white smoke was pulled out from the right wing of the plane, occasionally emitting flames. Another video taken by passengers on board, released by CNN, showed an orange yellow flame emanating from an engine on the right side of the plane, while the plane was still in the climbing phase and the ground buildings were clearly visible.
A passenger told the local television station in Houston that an engine malfunction woke him up from his nap. "The plane began to sway left and right... I probably have to take the plane once or twice a month, so I know that's not normal. I opened the porthole sunshade and my seat was very close to the engine, seeing the engine spewing fireballs."
Southwest Airlines later confirmed that there was a "mechanical malfunction" shortly after takeoff. The aircraft was grounded for maintenance after a safe landing. The airline has dispatched another plane to transport passengers to Cancun.
