The May Express Development Index saw a year-on-year increase of nearly 40% in scale | Express | year-on-year growth
Beijing, 12 Jun (Xinhua) according to the May China Express Development Index report recently released by the State Post Bureau, in May this year, China's express development index was 370.9, an increase of 37.8% over the same period last year. The scale of the industry market was further expanded, and the service quality was improved. The delivery network has been continuously improved, and cross-border capabilities have been continuously enhanced.
In terms of development scale, in May, the express delivery development scale index was 406.1, a year-on-year increase of 17.8%. From the perspective of sub indicators, it is expected that the year-on-year growth rate of express delivery business volume in May will be about 18%, and the growth rate of business revenue will be around 14%. In May, the express delivery industry and e-commerce collaborated, resulting in an overall fluctuation in scale and an increase in business volume that exceeded two billion yuan levels at the beginning and end of the month. Among them, in mid to late May, the daily average business volume remained stable at around 350 million pieces.
In terms of service quality, in May, the express delivery service quality index was 592.1, a year-on-year increase of 78.5%. The 72 hour on-time rate in key areas is expected to be 84.3%, an increase of 8.7 percentage points year-on-year. In May, the quality and efficiency of industry services significantly improved, and the user experience improved, mainly due to three reasons: firstly, multiple ways to improve the delivery service efficiency. Express delivery companies focus on improving the delivery efficiency of key economic circles and providing promised next day delivery services to major cities in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta. The second is to optimize the quality of fresh food services through multiple links. Since the beginning of summer, the demand for seasonal products such as lychees, cherries, and flowers has surged. Express delivery companies have increased investment in cold chain equipment and facilities, promoted more standardized packaging, combined land and air transportation, opened up green channels, and delivered high-quality and fresh products. The third is to enhance the level of service manufacturing in multiple fields. Express delivery companies provide deep services to industries such as pre packaged vegetables and sportswear, extending their services upstream and downstream, closely integrating transportation, warehousing, and distribution to further meet the needs of new consumer formats such as live streaming sales and instant retail.
From the perspective of infrastructure construction, the express delivery development capacity index in May was 214.8, a year-on-year increase of 8.3%. In the field of air transportation, the industry's own airlines have opened multiple international cargo routes, enhancing the service capabilities of South Asia and North America. In the field of railway transportation, the "high-speed rail express delivery" service has been launched, and the Chongqing Hanoi international train has been opened, steadily enhancing cross city cluster and cross-border service capabilities.
The relevant person in charge of the National Postal Administration introduced that with the introduction of policies in many areas such as rural postal logistics system construction, postal channel safety, and green industry development to provide key support, the development environment of China's express delivery industry continues to improve. Driven by the mid year promotion, it is expected that the industry will continue to perform well in June.
