The internal education rectification of the Chinese Football Association has been extended by two weeks, and the chairman of the Chinese Super League company, Liu Jun, has been taken away for investigation
On the afternoon of August 29th, the Chinese Football Association held a meeting of all middle-level cadres at its office building in Beijing. At the meeting, the relevant person in charge of the Chinese Football Association announced that Liu Jun, Deputy Leader of the Preparatory Group of the Chinese Football Association and Chairman of the Chinese Super League Limited Liability Company, has been taken away by relevant departments for investigation, and the relevant procedures for his detention have been completed. Liu Jun is also the 14th important figure in Chinese football to be taken away since former head coach Li Tie in November last year. During this period, four former or current chairmen of China Super League, including Yu Hongchen, Ma Chengquan, Li Yuyi, and Liu Jun, have been taken away. It is undeniable that this round of anti-corruption actions in domestic football is still ongoing, and it is difficult to estimate the impact or impact it will have on Chinese football clubs.
It is understood that 47 year old Liu Jun was taken away by relevant departments on the afternoon of August 28th. In the morning of that day, he also participated in the work of the preparatory group of the Chinese Football Association and discussed business issues with colleagues. But starting from that afternoon, colleagues from the preparatory team of the Chinese Football Association did not see his presence again.
For those familiar with domestic football, Liu Jun's name is not unfamiliar. More than 10 years ago, he served as the former General Manager of Jiangsu Shuntian Club in the Chinese Super League. At the end of 2018, before and after the award ceremony of the Chinese Super League that season, Liu Jun was invited by the then leaders of the Chinese Football Association to participate in the early preparation work of the professional league management organization, namely the Chinese Football Association. After entering the 2020 season, he teamed up with Huang Shenghua, the former chairman of Guangzhou City Club, to be responsible for the operation and management of the Chinese Super League. Liu Jun is mainly responsible for league management and business development. In July 2021, the preparatory group of China Football Federation was officially established, with Liu Jun serving as the deputy leader of the preparatory group. Subsequently, he succeeded Li Yuyi, former Vice Chairman of the Chinese Football Association, as the Chairman of the Chinese Super League through a program, continuing to oversee the business development and management of professional leagues.
Last November, former head coach of the Chinese national football team, Li Tie, was taken away for investigation on suspicion of serious violations, marking the beginning of a new round of anti-corruption in domestic football. After entering 2023, more than ten senior and middle-level officials of the Chinese Football Association, as well as former leaders of Chinese Super League companies, were taken away for investigation on suspicion of violating discipline and law. Liu Jun is the first current member of the Chinese Super League to be taken away this year.

It is also understood that the three-month internal education rectification work of the Chinese Football Association, originally scheduled to end at the end of August this year, will be extended by two weeks. On the last working day of last week, the Chinese Football Association confirmed that Yang Xu, one of the members of the association's working group, would be in charge of the professional league and the Chinese Super League company.
