At around 11:15 on July 17th, a continuous collision accident occurred between passing vehicles on the G30 Lianhuo Expressway in Shandan County, Zhangye City, Gansu Province, at a distance of K2089 kilometers+300 meters towards Xinjiang. A semi-trailer lost control and collided with multiple vehicles in a series of rear end collisions. As of the time of publication, 8 people were killed and 6 were seriously injured. The injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment, and traffic on the accident section has been restored to normal. At present, the treatment of the injured and the aftermath of the deceased are being carried out in an orderly manner, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
After the accident, Hu Changsheng, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, immediately issued instructions and dispatched arrangements, demanding that all efforts be made to rescue trapped personnel, spare no effort in treating the injured, meticulously and meticulously carry out post accident disposal work, quickly identify the cause of the accident, and strictly hold accountable in accordance with the law and regulations. All regions in the province should draw lessons from accidents, comprehensively investigate safety hazards, block loopholes, eliminate blind spots, and ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor Ren Zhenhe immediately led a working group to the scene of the accident, commanded emergency response and rescue work, visited and comforted the injured, and held a meeting in Shandan County to listen to reports from relevant parties, arranged and deployed medical treatment, accident investigation, aftermath handling, traffic protection, and strengthened road traffic safety management by analogy. We must quickly conduct an investigation into the cause of the accident, which is rigorous, meticulous, realistic, and strict. We must thoroughly investigate the cause, hold accountable, publicly and transparently release information, and respond to social concerns in a timely manner. In response to the long national and provincial roads, high traffic volume, long transportation distances between cities, and a significant increase in self driving trips during the peak tourist season in our province, we must carefully analyze and study the situation, and further propose feasible and effective measures. At the same time, we will comprehensively carry out special actions for road traffic safety management and rectification, with all police officers on the road, segmented control, responsibility on their shoulders, and cracking down on illegal activities.
