"The Future Comes · The Bay Has Gravity" Network Theme Collection - History and Future Connect Here | Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao | Network
On July 21, Zhongshan, People's Daily reported that the "Future Has Come, Bay Has Gravity" online themed wind gathering event, jointly organized by the Cyberspace Administration of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and the Guangdong Greater Bay Area Office, has entered its third day. A team of over 40 people, including journalists from central online media and online media from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, as well as internet celebrities and representatives of university teachers and students, came to Zhongshan to deeply experience the latest construction progress of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.
Zhongshan, formerly known as Xiangshan before 1925. According to the "Taiping Universe Chronicle" of the Song Dynasty, "Xiangshan County is located 300 miles south of the sea, with many immortal flowers, hence it is called Xiangshan." In the 22nd year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty, Xiangshan County was established, and its jurisdiction once included present-day Macau. During the Qing Dynasty, Zhongshan was an important post station on the Qi'ao Ancient Road and a crucial node on the Maritime Silk Road. It became an important channel for commercial exchanges, economic exchanges, and cultural dissemination with Macau at that time.
In 1984, Comrade Deng Xiaoping visited Zhongshan on a southern tour and left behind the famous saying "do not turn back" while climbing Mount Luosanmei, expressing his firm determination to reform and opening up. The Zhongshan Hot Spring Hotel, located in Yongmo Village, Sanxiang Township, has created five national "firsts", including China's first Sino foreign cooperative tourism enterprise and the first initiator of license plates in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.
Walking through the Qi'ao Ancient Road and embarking on the Shenzhen Zhongshan Passage, Zhongshan will continue to become an important node in promoting connectivity in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. The Shenzhen Zhongshan Passage is a construction bridge connecting Shenzhen and Zhongshan cities within Guangdong Province, with a total length of 24 kilometers. It includes a 6.8 kilometer long immersed tube tunnel, designed for a speed of 100 kilometers per hour and a service life of 100 years. It is a world-class group project composed of bridges, tunnels, and artificial islands. The Shenzhong Passage is the first underwater interchange on a highway in China. The Lingdingyang Bridge, with a main span of 1666 meters, has a deck height of 91 meters above the water surface, making it the highest navigable cross sea bridge in the world.
According to Zhong Huihong, Deputy Director of the Shenzhong Channel Management Center, the construction of the artificial islands in the east and west of the Shenzhong Channel is steadily progressing. The underwater tunnel and bridge engineering have been completed, and efforts are being made to promote the construction of the pipeline trench, pavement, mechanical and electrical safety and other engineering in the immersed tube tunnel. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by 2024. After completion, the travel time between Zhongshan and Shenzhen will be shortened to 30 minutes, completely changing the current situation where people in western Guangdong must pass through the Humen Bridge in Shenzhen, reducing the long-term traffic pressure of the Humen Bridge, and synchronously entering the "half hour living traffic circle" between Shenzhen and Shenzhen. As the only direct highway connecting the two major urban agglomerations of the Pearl River Delta, Shenzhen Dongguan Hui and the Pearl River Delta, the Shenzhen Central Passage will become a transportation link between the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and has important strategic significance in accelerating the integrated development of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area urban agglomeration.
