The French Embassy in Niger was attacked.
On July 30th local time, a demonstration took place in the capital of Niger, Niamey, with some protesters attacking the French Embassy in Niger.
Some of the protesters attempted to enter the French embassy. Later that day, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the violent incidents outside its embassy in Niger.
According to reports, some protesters threw away and trampled on plaques with the words "French Embassy in Niger", while others shouted "Down with France".
The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns violent demonstrations and states that the Nigerian military has an obligation to ensure the safety of diplomatic missions and consulates.
The Office of the French President has also issued a warning that if French citizens, military, diplomats or interests are attacked, France will "immediately and strongly respond.".
According to previous reports, on the 26th, some soldiers of the Niger Presidential Guard detained the country's President Bazum. Late that night, representatives of the coup soldiers announced on Nepal's national television station the establishment of the National Committee for Defending the Motherland, overthrowing the Bazum regime and allowing the military regime to take over national affairs.
After the incident, the United Nations, the Economic Community of West African States, and the African Union expressed condemnation and called for the prompt release of Bazum.
