Zong Ye Piao Xiang Bai Ge Racing - Experience the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival. Wang Boxi | Zongzi | Hong Kong
Hong Kong, June 22 (Xinhua) - With the fragrance of zongzi leaves and a hundred boats racing, Hong Kong welcomes the annual Dragon Boat Festival. This year's Dragon Boat Festival in Hong Kong not only continues the traditional customs of the festival, but also has a unique scene.
Zongzi is undoubtedly the most representative food of the Dragon Boat Festival. Before the Dragon Boat Festival, many restaurants and shops in Hong Kong had already displayed various kinds of Zongzi. In the time-honored "Old Sanyang" shop in Tongluowan, there are a variety of Zongzi, including Jinhua ham zongzi, double yellow bacon zongzi, etc. Because of the authentic taste, customers are crowded.
After the rice dumplings are rolled into a bucket shape, they are filled with rich food materials prepared in advance, and then tied with salt water grass... In Hong Kong Hanhua Middle School, a unique youth Dragon Boat Festival Carnival has recently kicked off. More than 50 groups of Hong Kong parents and children families gathered in the Hanhua Middle School auditorium to try to make Zongzi and celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival together.
"Glutinous rice, Hericium erinaceus, chestnuts... take two pieces of soaked Zongye, fold them into a cross shape, and then fold them into a sharp corner." Master Aken, a volunteer, showed how to wrap an exquisite five corner Zongzi made of Suyao Pillars and Hericium erinaceus on the spot. He acted skillfully, and in a twinkling of an eye, he wrapped a Zongzi with sharp edges and corners.
"Previously, the Dragon Boat Festival was all about eating ready-made Zongzi. This year, I made it myself, and I realized how difficult it was to make a Zongzi," said Lin Zhuoxian. Wang Boxi thought that it was very meaningful to spend the Dragon Boat Festival this year by learning to make Zongzi with his family.
"Combining the cultural knowledge of the Dragon Boat Festival with fun activities such as wrapping Zongzi and wearing Han suits can enhance Hong Kong teenagers' understanding of Chinese traditional festivals and arouse more people to attach importance to the education and inheritance of Chinese traditional culture," said Guan Yingbin, principal of Hanhua Middle School.
A group of volunteers recently entered Xiaoxi Wan Estate to carry out a "caring zongzi delivery activity", spreading holiday greetings to thousands of households and creating a strong festive atmosphere. Mother in law Zheng, a community resident, came to the team early in the morning to wait for sending rice dumplings. She hoped to enjoy Zongzi with her family and share the taste of the festival of family reunion at the Dragon Boat Festival in advance.
In addition to tasting Zongzi, many Hong Kong citizens will also go to watch the dragon boat race during the Dragon Boat Festival.
On the day of the Dragon Boat Festival on the 22nd, dragon boat races were held in multiple districts of Hong Kong, creating a strong festive atmosphere. Among them, the Aberdeen Dragon Boat Competition has a history of over a hundred years and still preserves the traditional fishermen's dragon boat culture. This year's Aberdeen Dragon Boat Racing Competition has a total of 28 full day events, with 45 teams participating.
At around 9am, a crowd had already gathered at Aberdeen Beach Park. Despite the scorching sun and the continuous rise in temperature, it is difficult to stop the enthusiasm of citizens to watch the game on site. "Dragon boat racing is an annual event of the Dragon Boat Festival, and the atmosphere is even more lively than imagined." Ms. Chen, a Hong Kong citizen, watched with her daughter at the scene.
Elegantly shaped dragon boats are anchored on the water surface, some with red silk at their horns and some with grass bundles at their mouths. From a distance, they look like lifelike dragons ready to set sail.
The commanding gun rings, and the dragon boat is like an arrow departing from its string, chopping and chopping the waves. In the rhythmic beating of the drummer at the bow of the boat, the contestants all exerted their skills and paddled vigorously. Watching the dragon boats galloping and the waves splashing on the water, the audience on the shore couldn't help but cheer for the contestants, their cheers intertwined with the sound of drums and gongs.
Amidst the cheers of the audience, the first dragon boat rushed past the finish line, and the shore once again heard deafening shouts and more rhythmic drums and gongs. Hong Kong citizen Zhang Bo was excited while watching the competition. He said that he had also participated in dragon boat races when he was young. Although he no longer competes on the water, every time he sees such a united and spirited scene, it makes him feel excited.
This year's Dragon Boat Festival in Hong Kong has also innovated traditional festival forms, transforming traditional festival symbols and elements into light and shadow art, showcasing Dragon Boat customs through aerial patterns and text, and bringing a visual feast to Hong Kong citizens.
As night falls, a painting of "Night of Bauhinia Flowers" slowly unfolds over the Hong Kong Palace Museum, illuminating the skyline of Victoria Harbour. Thousands of drones soared up and lined up the festival images of Qu Yuan, Dragon Boat, Zongzi and so on, wishing Hong Kong citizens a healthy Dragon Boat Festival. The night scenes of Hong Kong presented by sea, land, and air complement each other, pushing the festive atmosphere to a climax.
