On the afternoon of August 16th, a train carrying 40 TEUs of 1180 tons of cement clinker departed from Fushi Station in Rong'an County, Liuzhou, Guangxi, and will be shipped via Qinzhou Port East Station to the coastal areas of southern China. This is the first western land sea new channel rail sea intermodal train departing from Rong'an, Guangxi, adding a new route to the western land sea new channel.
Guangxi has abundant limestone resources, which have advantages such as wide distribution, good quality, and large reserves. Among them, the northern region of Guangxi is relatively concentrated and is the main raw material for cement. For a long time, cement produced in Guangxi has mainly been sold within the region.
In recent years, with the increase in annual production of local cement enterprises, in order to help local cement enterprises expand their markets outside the region, China Railway Nanning Bureau has strengthened its coordination with enterprises, deeply understood the sales situation of enterprise products, formulated railway transportation plans for cement according to "one enterprise, one policy" and "one product, one policy", promoted the operation of the "Rong'an Beibu Gulf Port" rail sea intermodal transportation train, and helped enterprises expand their market "circle of friends".
According to Qin Zefen, the general manager of Guangxi Rong'an Yufeng Cement Co., Ltd., the company's annual production of cement clinker is 1.7 million tons, which was originally mainly sold to Liuzhou, Hechi, Guilin and other places through highways. The transportation cost is an important factor restricting the sales radius of cement, and railway transportation greatly reduces transportation costs. With the help of rail sea intermodal transportation, it is expected that the monthly outbound volume will exceed 10000 tons, and the annual sales can increase by about 24 million yuan. This will also enable enterprises to achieve a one-stop transportation of cement clinker from door to door, door to port, and port to door, helping products reach overseas and regional markets.
According to data from China Railway Nanning Bureau, since the first "Beibu Gulf Port Chongqing" western land sea new channel rail sea intermodal train was launched in 2017, the transportation volume has maintained rapid growth, from 3382 TEUs in 2017 to 756000 TEUs in 2022, an increase of 223 times. The transportation category has increased from over 50 categories such as ceramics and panels to over 940 categories such as grain, automotive parts, computer parts, and decorative materials.
In order to assist more enterprises in the autonomous region in developing their business, in recent years, new rail sea intermodal transportation routes such as "Beibu Gulf Port Yulin", "Guigang Beibu Gulf Port", and "Hezhou Zhanjiang Ningbo" have been opened successively, continuously expanding the "circle of friends" of Guangxi enterprises with the advantages of large transportation volume, all-weather, low cost, and high efficiency.
Next, China Railway Nanning Bureau will continue to pay attention to social transportation needs, continuously improve its ability to ensure smooth transportation, and enable the transportation advantages of the western land sea new channel to benefit more enterprises. As of August 15th this year, the rail sea intermodal freight trains of the Western Land Sea New Channel have transported a total of 526000 TEUs of goods, a year-on-year increase of 13%.
