The farce of "transshipment of immigrants" in the United States: Texas sends another car load of people to Los Angeles, California | Los Angeles | United States
On July 1st, the largest city in California, Los Angeles, welcomed another group of "unwelcome guests": a large bus carrying 41 illegal immigrants from Latin America departed from Brownsville, Texas on the southern border of the United States, and arrived at Los Angeles Union Station, a railway hub in southern California. This is the second "immigration transfer vehicle" from Texas to the city in about half a month.
A spokesperson for Los Angeles Mayor Karen Buss issued a statement stating that the mayor did not receive prior notice, but was informed of the car's itinerary on June 30th. The statement said, "The city of Los Angeles believes in respect and dignity for every individual, and is prepared to do so."
This bus arrived in downtown Los Angeles around 12:40 noon on July 1st, and some members of immigrant rights groups were present to greet it. The immigrants on board come from Cuba, Belize, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.
According to the American Union for the Rights of Humanitarian Immigrants, the immigrants in the car include 11 children, and 6 of them also need to take a plane to destinations such as Las Vegas and San Francisco. A spokesperson for the group said that most immigrants were picked up by relatives in the United States after getting off the bus, and there were signs that they had eaten sandwiches and drank water on the way. The scene was "not as tense and chaotic as last time.".

The last time was on June 14th, a large bus from Texas transported 42 Latin American immigrants to Los Angeles without preparing water and food for the passengers. Texas Governor Greg Abbott said at the time that he arranged to send the car to Los Angeles because California declared itself a "sheltered state" and promised protection for illegal immigrants into the United States. Abbott has not yet claimed the latest transfer operation.
Since 2022, due to considerations of party and local interests, Republican states such as Texas and Florida have repeatedly transported illegal immigrants crossing the southern border of the United States in batches to Democratic controlled cities such as New York and Los Angeles as a weapon to challenge the Democratic President Joseph Biden administration. In early June of this year, Florida authorities took 36 illegal immigrants from Texas and transported them in two batches by charter flight to the California capital, Sacramento, catching the latter off guard.
