China and the Solomon Islands officially established diplomatic relations on September 21, 2019, opening a new chapter in the history of their relationship. The Embassy of Solomon Islands in China opens
The Solomon Islands Embassy in China held its opening ceremony in Beijing today. Solomon Islands Prime Minister Sogavare, who is currently on an official visit to China, attended the ceremony and unveiled the plaque for the embassy.
Sogavare stated that the breadth and depth of the relationship between the Solomon Islands and China are becoming increasingly mature and deeply rooted in unity, friendship, and cooperation. This is a bilateral relationship established on a common principle of equality, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and non-interference. The relationship between the Solomon Islands and China is firm and unshakable. Sogavare further reiterated that Solomon Islands firmly adheres to the One China principle and is willing to strengthen contacts with China at all levels. There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China.
Multiple cooperation documents signed between China and the Exchange
"Friends come from afar." On July 9th, Solomon Islands Prime Minister Sogavare arrived in Beijing. He expressed his feeling of coming back to China again by saying "it's like going home".
On July 10, Sogavare visited the CPC History Exhibition Hall to learn about the magnificent centennial struggle of the CPC. During the visit, Sogavare told reporters from Blue Hall Observer that if history is forgotten, one cannot move forward. China's rapid development today is inseparable from the driving force of history. He also pointed out that China values the needs of Pacific island countries, which is completely different from other major powers. The global development initiative and global security initiative proposed by the Chinese President contribute to promoting global development and progress.
During this visit, the two countries decided to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership of mutual respect and common development in the new era, and strengthen the connection between the "the Belt and Road" initiative and Solomon Islands' "2035 Development Strategy".
