The "Eagle" People Dancing on the Snowy Plateau | Tajik | Plateau
The Tajik people, known as the "eagle nation," mainly reside in Tashkurgan Tajik Autonomous County, Xinjiang. Eagles represent beauty, holiness, and bravery in the Tajik national culture, and are the spiritual sustenance of the Tajik people. They express their worship of eagles through eagle dance, and every time they encounter festivals and happy events, the Tajik people dance eagle dance to express their joyful mood.
In 2006, Tajik eagle dance was listed as a representative project of national intangible cultural heritage. This traditional folk dance from the Pamir Plateau in Xinjiang is gradually becoming more well-known to more people.
Nowadays, many young people in the local area have joined the team of eagle dance inheritance, and this intangible cultural heritage has injected new vitality into the revitalization of local rural areas. The aspirations of the Tajik people for a better life are gradually becoming a reality.
