Recently, Chinese citizens were arrested by South Korean police for selling "pain relieving pills" through social media platforms, on suspicion of violating South Korea's "Drug Administration Related Laws".
"Pain relieving tablets" contain the psychoactive ingredient phenobarbital, which is considered a prohibited substance under Korean law. Those who hold, trade, or take them may be sentenced to imprisonment for up to 10 years or a fine of up to 100 million Korean won. The Consulate General in Busan reminds Chinese citizens in the consular area to abide by Korean laws, understand the drug management regulations of Korean customs before entering the country, and not to bring, mail, sell, or purchase "pain relieving tablets", as well as compound licorice tablets and weight loss drugs containing fluoroamphetamine, amphotericin, and other ingredients into the country.
