Pudong plans to renovate 16 "Ring Parks" within 4 years

Along the Shanghai Outer Ring Expressway, there is a large green belt that is 98 kilometers long and about 100 to 500 meters wide, like a "jade necklace" tightly surrounding the main urban area of Shanghai. With the construction and development of Shanghai, this "jade necklace" continues to expand and extend, playing an important role in purifying the urban atmospheric environment.

During the 14th Five Year Plan period, Shanghai plans to lay out 50 parks on the ring, with a total planned area of 1732 hectares, forming a continuous system of 50 ring park clusters. Among them, Pudong has 22 ring parks with a planned area of 727 hectares. Among them, 16 environmental parks will be upgraded and renovated, with a planned area of 516 hectares. The number and area of upgrades and renovations will account for nearly 50% of the city's total.

In 2022, two surrounding parks in Pudong have been upgraded and renovated. The remaining 14 ring parks will be accelerated according to the plan of "4 to be built in 2023, 5 to be built in 2024, and 5 to be built in 2025".

In 2022, the first batch of six environmental parks in the city will be constructed, completed and opened, including Jinhai Wetland Park and Mianqing Park located in Pudong. As a demonstration project in the city, these two buildings have now become new popular check-in spots for citizens.

Jinhai Wetland Park

Jinhai Wetland Park has a total area of 41.8 hectares and is the only park on the Shanghai Outer Ring Green Belt that features wetlands.

As one of the first 12 named habitats for wild animals in Shanghai, the renovation of Jinhai Wetland Park focuses particularly on optimizing the habitat, aiming to create more suitable habitats for wild animals to survive.

In order to attract more birds to live in Jinhai Wetland Park, on the basis of the original lakes, islands and mudflat, through appropriate manual intervention, improve the aquatic habitat system, increase the types of shallow rocky beaches and bird attracting plants, and create a base for biodiversity protection.

This spring, after completing environmental renovation and habitat creation, the Jinhai Wetland attracted mandarin ducks to breed here, and common water birds such as little grebes and black water chickens settled in the grass by the lake. These little elves are not only a scenery of the park, but also a business card of urban ecological civilization.

Interestingly, a north-south overhead science popularization observation corridor has been added to the park, connecting the islands and reed marshes in the area, providing citizens with the best window for science popularization and understanding of biodiversity.

The science popularization hall in the park, with the theme of "City and Wetland Coexistence", is a multifunctional and composite ecological wetland science popularization base that integrates wetland science popularization, natural experience, parent-child activities, and research and training. Here, tourists can carefully observe the wetlands and birds in the distance through binoculars, and further explore the fun and mystery of wetlands through the exhibition content in the museum.

The "small forest" in the park is a great place for leisure walks, while the white beach is favored by many children to play and enjoy the fun of playing by the seaside. Across from the White Beach, there is a specially designed tent area to meet the needs of citizens who enjoy camping.

Mianqing Park

Mianqing Park is located in Kangqiao Town, bordered by the Outer Ring South River to the north, Chuanzhou Highway to the south, Shenjiang South Road to the west, and Mianxin Road to the east, covering an area of approximately 60.4 hectares.

As the "backyard" of Hengmian Ancient Town, the renovated Mianqing Park continues the cultural characteristics of the ancient town as its theme. On the basis of preserving and protecting the current ecological suburban base, it showcases a historical ecological landscape that integrates folk life experiences, ecological strolls, courtyard tours, entertainment and leisure, and sports for citizens.

Classical beauty can be said to be one of the biggest highlights of Mianqing Park. The park forms a circular lake tour line around the central lake, connecting five scenic spots: "Spring return of crabapple", "Ningxia autumn color", "Lotus bank of Mian water", "Flying herons in the dreamland", and "Qingmian rural sentiment", carefully constructing the "Five Scenic Spots of Mianqing".

Among them, the "Spring Return of Haitang" on Huxin Island is a unique Jiangnan natural landscape park, which uses the landscaping techniques of "borrowing, releasing, and blocking" to integrate the island with the park environment, showcasing the ancient town residential style that blends ancient and modern.

As an ecological park, the scenic forest in the northern part of the park connects the forest belt with the South River, with trees such as fir and camphor trees forming an ecological green corridor, and the integration of water and forest landscapes as a blessing.

The park has a parent-child park, a sports space under the bridge, a water park, and other facilities, providing citizens with a multifunctional, all age public activity space.

In addition, to enhance the comfort and convenience of tourists visiting the park, the park provides visitors with additional transportation for all ages: 2 electric sightseeing cars, 2 children's electric small trains, 40 sightseeing bicycles, etc.

Xiaoqin Park

Xiaoqin Park is located in Gaodong Town, with a total land area of approximately 20.87 hectares, extending from the Outer Ring Expressway in the east, Guangcan Road in the south, the boundary of the Outer Ring Green Belt in the west, and Hangjin Road in the north.

As an ecological leisure park with the theme of "filial piety and respect for the elderly", the renovation of the filial piety park will, on the premise of maintaining basic ecological service functions, shape the theme space and improve the park's supporting service facilities by sorting and optimizing the park's road system, creating a distinctive regional park with respect for the elderly and health as the theme and community service as the feature, targeting different groups.

After renovation, the Xiaoqin Park will be divided into three functional areas: leisure and strolling area, health and wellness activity area, and vitality water and forest area, respectively creating a natural ecological strolling space, an activity space for respecting and loving the elderly, and a connecting node between water and forest.

Gaoke Road Park

Gaoke Road Park covers a total area of approximately 26.26 hectares, extending from Chuangxin West Road to the south, Gaoke East Road to the north, Tangfeng Road to the east, and the Outer Ring Expressway to the west.

The park is themed around forest recreation, integrating the advantages of existing water networks, forests, and ecological foundations. It is designed with a bird island in the center of the lake that can be viewed from afar, a jungle trail that can be explored, a parent-child interactive living garden, and a distinctive Shanghai style amusement park that can be used for recreation. It aims to create a "cultural forest" for citizens that integrates communication, sports, culture, and experience.

The entire park will form a landscape spatial pattern of "one belt, one corridor, and four zones". "One belt" refers to a colorful greenway in a hundred meter forest belt, "one corridor" refers to a circular slow-moving corridor, and "four zones" refer to the cultural forest area, art island area, living garden area, and Shanghai style amusement park area.

Xiunan Park

Xiunan Park extends north to the outer ring road, south to the north side of Xiukang Road, east to Zikang River, and west to Kangwu Road, with a construction area of approximately 20.13 hectares.

The park is designed with the theme of forest reading and interactive socializing, aiming to become a suburban ecological leisure park with the main function of "weekend reading and leisure+daily rest", integrating forest reading, leisure communication, and leisure fitness.

After the renovation of the park, a double ring structure and separation of motion and stillness will be formed. Among them, the ecological experience ring on the west side will provide visitors with leisure and water friendly leisure services by adding ecological green spaces, adding lakeside piers, and renovating facilities such as waterfront corridors.

The understory interactive ring on the east side will combine the theme of "humanities and art+natural ecology", adding shaded reading, rest and communication, leisure and fitness spaces, and several waterfront rest and stay spaces to enhance the fun and functionality of the park.

Tangxiang Park

The Tangxiang Park renovation project is located in the southern section of the outer ring forest belt in Pudong, extending from Kangxin Road to the east, Luoshan Road overpass to the west, Kangren Road to the south, and A20 outer ring expressway to the north. The total renovation area is 71.12 hectares.

While meeting the needs of residents, Tangxiang Park will be divided into three ecological areas from south to north: ecological recreation, ecological symbiosis, and ecological wilderness. At the same time, four tourism routes will be reorganized, including sports and leisure routes, camping and leisure routes, cycling routes, and ecological experience routes, to connect ecological spaces and activity venues and enhance the overall tourism value of the park.

Among them, the sports tour line will provide 23000 square meters of fitness and sports facilities for sports enthusiasts, including 10 courts, involving six sports activities: football, basketball court, tennis, goal kick, skateboarding, and dynamic cycling; We will also add "Water Park" and "Balance Park" for children, and set up smart fitness centers for the elderly.

The camping and leisure tour line will rely on the understory and waterfront space to open up camping areas for tourists, introduce forest paths, and set up rest facilities and fishing platforms along the way, allowing tourists to enjoy a peaceful and leisurely time.
