The Sri Lanka Export Development Authority recently stated that there has been a significant increase in foreign traders entering major gemstone markets without obtaining necessary permits, posing a threat to the integrity and sustainability of the industry. Sri Lanka will take necessary measures. Considering the above and in combination with recent individual cases, the embassy reminds us as follows:
1、 If Chinese citizens engage in gemstone trade, they should have a detailed understanding of relevant laws and regulations in Sri Lanka, apply for permission from Sri Lanka's management department as required, and any fund transactions involved must also be subject to Sri Lanka's legal supervision.
2、 Do not engage in gemstone trading in Sri Lanka as a tourist, or fail to declare as required, and carry gemstones out of the country through concealment, carrying, or other means. Otherwise, in the event of loss or theft, it will not be protected by the law.
