The Chinese Embassy has issued a reminder that two international students were attacked without reason in Canada
Two Chinese international students were attacked by a man in Ottawa for no reason, and the Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Canada issued a reminder
Recently, two of my international students in Ottawa were attacked by a local man while taking public transportation, and were severely frightened. The Chinese Embassy in Canada attaches great importance to this matter and immediately provides telephone condolences to the attacked students, coordinates psychological counseling, maintains timely contact with the Canadian police, follows up on the progress of the case, and safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of our international students. Ambassador Cong Peiwu made representations to the heads of the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant universities, demanding that they effectively safeguard the safety and legitimate rights and interests of my overseas students in Canada. At present, the suspect in question has been criminally charged. Here, the Chinese Embassy in Canada once again reminds us of the following matters related to study abroad safety:
1. attention to personal safety
Pay close attention to the security situation in the area where you are located, strengthen your own security precautions, and avoid going to areas where public security cases are frequent or walking alone at night. Be sure to pay attention to safety when swimming in summer. Pay attention to weather forecasts and safety warnings when traveling, and take precautions to avoid traveling in bad weather or setting foot in dangerous areas. Comply with local traffic laws, improve traffic safety awareness, and prevent fatigue driving, speeding, and drunk driving. In case of discrimination, hatred or other improper words and deeds provocations by bad elements, keep calm and flexible to avoid escalating into physical conflicts, report to the police as soon as possible or ask others to assist in reporting to the police, promptly ask the embassy or consulate for help, and report the relevant situation to the school.
2. attention to keep in touch with relatives and friends
Children travel thousands of miles mother worry. In order to reassure relatives and ensure everyone's safety, please keep in regular contact with family members in China, ensure smooth communication when going out, and inform family members in China of their personal itinerary and emergency contact information in advance when going out.
