Chinese Coast Guard Emergency Rescue!
On September 2nd, the Chinese Coast Guard's Meiji ship, which was carrying out law enforcement missions in the South China Sea, successfully rescued a Liberian cargo ship "GREEN K-MAX6" and 19 stranded crew members.
At 14:55 on the day of the incident, the duty room of the South China Sea Branch of the China Coast Guard received a report stating that a foreign cargo ship in the South China Sea had lost power due to engine failure and was drifting on the sea surface, with the risk of capsizing at any time. The situation was critical and urgently needed rescue.
After receiving the alarm, the South China Sea Branch of the China Coast Guard dispatched the Meiji ship to sail against the wind at full speed to the sea area for rescue. On the way, the law enforcement officers of the Meiji ship further understood the relevant information of the distressed cargo ship, arranged rescue plans, and activated emergency plans. They contacted the Navy and the South China Sea Rescue Bureau to implement professional rescue ships. The maritime police law enforcement officers prepared for rescue in advance, pulled safety ropes on the main deck, and prepared rescue towing cables and pneumatic skimming guns and other equipment.

At 15:32, the Meiji ship detected the target, with waves reaching 2 to 3 meters high and wind speeds of 6 to 7 levels. It was also during the typhoon season, and the waves were gradually strengthening. The cargo ship, carrying 19 stranded crew members and over 88000 tons of coal cargo, has been drifting at sea for 18 hours. The situation of the cargo ship in distress is even more complex than expected due to the high winds and fast waves. In addition, there are many passing ships in the nearby waters. If not rescued in time, a collision accident between ships may occur, and the consequences are unimaginable. In the face of danger, the Meiji ship calmly responded by maintaining contact with the cargo ship through very high frequency wireless telephones, organizing emergency rescue teams, lifeboats, and lifebuoys, and making every effort to prepare for rescue and respond to emergencies at any time.
At 19:41, the waves at the scene were 5 to 6 meters high and the wind was above level 7. The cargo ship had already hung out of control lights, and as time passed, the waves on the sea continued to increase. The Meiji ship overcame the adverse effects of strong sea waves and maintained a safe distance from the cargo ship, gradually approaching the cargo ship, turning on the sea sweeping lights to solve the problem of poor visibility at night, and assisting the Nanhai Rescue 115 ship in carrying out rescue operations on site.
At 22:10, with the unremitting efforts of maritime law enforcement officers, the distressed cargo ship was successfully towed, and 19 crew members on board the cargo ship turned the tide. The cargo was intact, and the Meiji ship successfully completed the rescue mission. The foreign cargo ship crew sincerely expressed gratitude to our maritime law enforcement officers!
