The bribery case involving Wan Feng, former chairman of Xinhua Life Insurance Co., Ltd., has been heard, involving more than 12.09 million yuan
At 9:30 am on August 31, 2023, the Intermediate People's Court of Linyi City, Shandong Province, publicly held the first instance trial of the bribery case of Wan Feng, former Party Secretary and Chairman of Xinhua Life Insurance Co., Ltd.
The prosecution alleges that from the second half of 1997 to the second half of 2018, the defendant Wan Feng, while serving as the Party Secretary and General Manager of China Life Insurance Co., Ltd. Shenzhen Branch, a member and Deputy General Manager of the Party Committee of China Life Insurance Co., Ltd. and also the Party Secretary and General Manager of Shenzhen Branch, a member and Vice President of the Party Committee of China Life Insurance Co., Ltd. and the Party Secretary and President of China Life Insurance Co., Ltd., as well as the Party Secretary and Chairman of Xinhua Insurance Co., Ltd., utilized his position or position to seek benefits for others through other national workers in project procurement, engineering contracting, and promotion. From the summer of 1998 to the Mid Autumn Festival of 2017, they illegally received cash, shopping cards and other properties from relevant personnel for many times, amounting to more than 12.09 million yuan in total, of which 10 million yuan was an attempt.
In the trial, the prosecution presented relevant evidence, and the defendant Wan Feng and his defense counsel cross examined. Both the prosecution and defense fully expressed their opinions under the auspices of the court. In the final statement, the defendant Wan Feng pleaded guilty and pleaded guilty, hoping that the court would grant him a reduced punishment.
