With a reverence for the water source of Shanzong, we set off from Xining, the capital of Qinghai Province, to Kekexili, Qumalai, Zhiduo, Zaduo, Maduo
Along the way, I don't know how many passes have been crossed at an altitude of over 4000 meters. The beautiful paintings of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature keep us overwhelmed, and we cannot help but admire the achievements of China's ecological civilization construction in the new era.
In the Three Rivers Source, there is a saying that goes, "Black haired people rely on black haired yaks, and black haired yaks rely on golden grasslands.". In their view, the health of cattle, fat horses, strong sheep is a gift of the grassland, and protecting the grassland is the conscious action of people living on this land.
Before the establishment of public welfare positions for ecological management personnel, many herdsmen in the Three Rivers Source voluntarily took on the task of ecological management. They have always had a cultural tradition of respecting mountains and water, and protecting the environment. Based on this, Sanjiangyuan National Park regards the farmers and herdsmen who have been living here for generations as an important force in ecological protection.
29 years ago, Jason Sonandajie sacrificed his precious life in the fight against poachers to protect Tibetan antelopes. The first conservation station in the Kekexili National Nature Reserve was named after him; 29 years later, over 17000 herders put down their grazing whips and transformed from grassland users to ecological protectors, guarding the beautiful home of generations of life.
23-year-old Cai Renluosong grew up listening to the heroic stories of Sonandajie from a young age. In June 2023, he officially became an ecological caretaker at the Suonandajie Conservation Station in Kekexili, responsible for taking care of the rescued Tibetan antelopes. "Suonandajie is our hero in our hearts, and we need to take on this baton and protect these 'plateau elves'.".
Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Henan Mongolian Autonomous County, is where the important tributary of the Yellow River, the Tao River, originates. Not long ago, we were pleasantly surprised to find during an interview with the Nadam Festival that after the event, environmental volunteers dressed in various vests spontaneously picked up the garbage on the grassland, including the figures of teenagers... From inside the national park to outside, the seeds of ecological protection took root and sprouted here.
When entering the source of the Three Rivers, it was the most beautiful season, with colorful flowers blooming on the verdant grassland. "What kind of flowers are these?" We asked the local herdsmen.
"These are all Gesang flowers," said a herdsman. Originally, in Tibetan, Gesang flower means happiness flower, which can refer to various flowers on the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, embodying the beautiful emotions of the Tibetan people who hope for happiness and auspiciousness.
The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that it is necessary to firmly establish and practice the concept that green mountains and clear waters are invaluable assets, and plan development from the perspective of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Walking all the way, looking out through the car window, the lake surface is calm like a mirror, reflecting the deep blue sky and vast mountains. With the continuous improvement of the ecological environment and living conditions, the Gesang flower not only blooms on the grassland, but also blooms in the hearts of people of all ethnic groups in the Three Rivers Source.
